As mentioned in the following thread, custom build laptops are quite expensive compared to an equivalent pre-built model.

Screw what I said, it's not really a custom build. All he's doing is selecting the most expensive option for each component on the Customize page for a laptop.

You do realize that laptop is going to eat electricity and piss heat? You're going to have a battery life of around 20 minutes...

And why would you want a built-in fax modem? o_O

hahaha, it forgot how to cool the darn thing.... unless you'll be using it somewhere ice-cold....then its not worth the effort...

and what battery will power it? a trucks battery or nuclear one?

portability. if you can use your desktop anywhere, there wont be anymore need for laptops/notebooks/netbooks/ipad.

I'll bet you the OP can't. It's just his "dream machine".

Even if he could he's going to have some incredibly high power bills to pay.

I promised myself that I wouldn't get another intel machine. but that is a hell of a computer. but power consumption won't be as bad as the desktop equivalent... or maybe OP could get a kick-peddle charger... for those times that he has nothing to do but to charge his laptop for a few hours for a few minutes of run time. Suggestion... invest in a very big battery. and reduce the number of internal hard drives. having two hard drives is nice and all for "Oh no" moments. but in a laptop you use externals for that. and drop the BD ROM unless you want to deal with Sony's DRM on your computer... or if you have a burning desire to have all the Blu ray "experience" for me I never saw a point in Bluray when I am not watching a movie for the "extras" I just want the movie and nothing more.
