For gaming, I can tell it won't be able to do much. =/

The HDD IS 5400 RPM = slow reads.
Processor, decent one, but not fast enough for good FPS on most games.
And the Graphics Card is a mobile card, so i doubt i even have to check it's spec..most are crap. =/

But it should be fine for media and school work :p

Also, it mainly depends on what ya wanna play for what's stated above.

For starters, she hasnt disclosed the model= L630-???.I used to like Toshiba, but they are a pile of shit now.I think they try to hoodwink non-tech people by throwing in a lot of RAM,and they have to throw in bottom end/out of date spec for the rest of the stuff to keep the price down.

    Normal for laptops.

as laptops go its an OK spec.

It's probably capable of playing a lot of modern games. Conversely, many games that come out in the near future may have minimum requirements that exceed those of your system, or that only allow you to run using low graphic settings.

I use my laptop mainly for playing DS games via emulator. If it's not marketed as a gaming laptop then most likely it'll let you down on the gaming end.

even if it is a 'gaming laptop' it will let you down in gaming. They are not designed to cope with modern games, gaming laptops are an oxymoron.

Mainstream usage? Sure. Gaming, graphics rendering, video encoding? NAY

It'll play games like TF2 and older at normal settings, not intended for gaming but it'll handle it. For general usage it's fine but I doubt it'll operate long with those processors. What kind of asshat puts i5s in a laptop with only 6 to 10 cell batteries? It's really stupid to use power consuming components without batteries that'll power it for long than an hour or two.

    I7 laptops are worse.

i7 laptops are extremely stupid. It's like giving a race car a 1 litre engine.

Thats what Ive been saying about Toshiba. They were selling a Laptop here for about £380,running W7 64-bit on a single core crappy processor. They rely on people not knowing anything about computers-they just slap in more ram(to get peoples attention) and bigger Hd-s,and its fuck everything else.
