Is it possible to run GameCube ISOs by just setting the booktype?

OK, I downloaded a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles [NTSC] ISO from here, planning on playing it within Dolphin just to find out that it doesn't yet work correctly in Dolphin AND that my cruddy Intel Mobile GMA card is too cruddy to run dolphin anyway.
Somewhere around here I believe I have some miniDVD-Rs, and if I can't find them, I could just buy some, so my question is:
Without using a modchip, the PSO exploit, or any of that other stuff, is it possible to run a GameCube ISO by doing nothing but setting the BookType while burning it?
    :)

    I very much doubt it.

    Nope.

The gamecube doesn't even run dvd's, but special optical disc, to avoid licencing fee's and produce cost (and to be special XD)

The laser it's self would need to be modified in 98% of gamecubes to just run.

The pso expoit is also a slow thing, as the tranfer speed won't give great results...unfortunatly I have yet to test this..

I couldn't get my laptop to connect with the gamecube despite the tools I retrieved :(

I'd try finding a mod shop, or somewhere that could take order's, oversea's prehaps..if your in australia I know ONE place, but it's only for australia...

Hmmm... I looked (only spent a few minutes), but couldn't find anywhere that still sells GameCube modchips, plus I don't know how to solder.
    :/

    No mod chips shops...

Well to find mine it was fair bit of work as in some places they aren't considered legal.

Try searching markets, any and all types you know of, I found mine in one of the dirtier markets XD

Otherwise look online and see if you can send your gc off to get chipped.

I read somewhere that this one modchip, the "qoob" I think it was called, didn't require any soldering. Is this true? If so, anyone know where I can get one online - preferably cheap, I only have $15 on me right, though I'll get more at christmas, and the few hundred in my MacBook Pro savings account are gonna stay there till I get said MacBook Pro!

Or better yet, what's the CHEAPEST way I can run GC isos on my GameCube?

    cheapest ways...

Ethier the emulator dolphin or use the pso expoit if you can figure it out (need a cat 5 cross over cable-standard cable for networking pc's or connecting to a router).

Not sure about that chip, I prefer the xeno mod chip, it can't run most forms of homebrew but it works for me game wise...

Only simpson's hit and run won't work (nstc version, never tried the PAL version).

I have plenty of ethernet cables... My laptop is connected to the Net wirelessly with a wired internet sharing network powering all of my other computer's networking.

Dolphin doesn't work on my Intel GMA laptop. The OpenGL implimentation is incomplete and the DirectX driver gives a pixel shader error on startup.
    PSO exploit it is...
I wonder if GameStop or Book & Music Exchange have the needed stuff. I usualy go to one of those two places for used games and stuff.

I got my gamecube broad band adaptor from ebay, but it's worth looking around online as it's very popular.

You would need to connect the gamecube directly to the laptop of yours, and find the tools and guides...

I connected them but my vista laptop wouldn't let the program run...I would have asked here but not too many here actually know about it.

Or I assume they don't, anyway if you can get the laptop connected to the gamecube you preety close, it's the programs that are a worry...they were designed to work on XP :(

I recommend going to thepurplecube.org, the site admin solders modchips into GC's for a good price. The site knows everything and anything got to do with GC, so you can't go wrong....Even if you're just looking for help. 50% of users there use some sort of modchip on their GC.

    From this picture:

It looks like, *if* I knew how to solder... it would be pretty simple.
I'd rather do it myself as I'm a cheapskate and all I want a way of running GC isos on my GC is so I can play Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles... If it'd cost too much, I might as well go to GameStop or BME and buy it!

Hmmm... I guess I'll just get it off of eBay.
$10 for the game, vs $13 for the XenoGC modchip alone? Guess I'll get the game!

Try this site, they are a good bunch, worth asking if you can mail yours :)

I believe getting the mod chip will outweigh a single game dude.

Sure I paid way more for it to be done ($70 AUD) but with 50 games under my belt I saved 50% on local shops...and space.

Most of what I want are expensive rare titles, even on ebay :(

Well, being that I'm a cheapskate and only have $15 to spare... I'll probebly just get the game.
So, pretend that I have no soldering experience whatsoever, am a cheapskate willing to spend a whopping ~$15, and am looking at an auction for the game I want that costsm less than $5. Difficult, huh?
If I get the game, I might get the modchip later, though.
Even IF I managed to find a method to run ISOs on my GameCube, I'd have to find a way to convince my mom to let me get it. I doubt she'd fall for the "I want it for 'homebrew'" excuse again. (Not that my family is against piracy er... 100% legal methods of gettting software and stuff... :p . They're just somewhat afraid of me getting caught. :p )

    So, ideas?
Since I seem to be being refered to ThePurpleCube, what forum there should I post my question there in?
(And no, i wouldn't be able to ship my GameCube.)

    Go to:

Gamecube Emulation Help: For help with Dolphin
General Help: You need help or recommendations on GC Modchips
Buy/Sell/Trade: You want to buy or get your GC modded.

So your not able to ship your cube...

It's a shame, you'd get a good deal I reckon, alas I guess money ain't in your court so to speak...

I mean look at me, I blew $70 bucks just to get my wii chipped which took a week for the chip to arrive at the mod shop :(

OK, is it possible to 'softmod' a GameCube? Such as the equilivilant to FlashMe in 'stealth mode' for the GameCube?
    could I use something like
    http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catalog/1GB-SD-Media-Launcher-for-Wii--Gamecube-p-2613.html
    this to do so?
If I saved up a little bit of $$$ and got that, could I just launch ISOs straight from the card? I could just get a 2+GB SD card for CHEAP!

    Yes...however.

I think how it works is too burn the disc and use that.

IE use the memory card and disc, then swap once the code is working.

CHeck the purple cube, there is tutorials and a compatibility list for it (most games work...)

I was suggested to get this...but cbf'd XD
