I can't check my mail, go to google, and random sites don't work. I think it might be my browser again but I don't know what it could be this time.
Everything works fine for me...It's taking a while though (I'm downloading a large file) It could be your browser...or might be a virus (vundo something)
It might just be your ISP. This is the reason that I want to make my own ISP. I don't care how "illegal" it is, I will figure out how to make my own ISP one day and save MILLIONS from not paying for internet service.
You cannot make an ISP just for yourself. You would need to pay a Tier 2 ISP, and to do that you would need to sell your Internet service to other people. You would have effectively started a crappy Tier 3 ISP just like the one you're complaining about. I would go on, but there are so many things wrong with your statement that I cannot even point them all out. Some expenses include equipment, management, insurance, etc.
I figured it out. It was stupid Peerguardian again. The thing likes to crash frequently and every time it decides to crash, it resets the settings back to default, where it blocks HTTP, which apparently Google uses. My ISP is Comcast, which is pretty good.
And ISP just has another ISP above it, so starting one doesn't really make sense. Btw, what's peerguardian and why do you need it?
Peerguardian safeguards you from bad IPs while downloading on p2p networks. Bad IPs like ones that will contact your ISP to give you a C&D.
Why is it blocking HTTP then? I thought that most, if not all, P2P protocols use a different port than 80.
It blocks it by default, and since I didn't know it crashed, (it did something weird to restart it, reset to default and not tell me) I didn't know about it.
