Is Ash's Pikachu a girl or a boy?

Pokemon never really revealed it and of course I've read other posts about this on other websites (most of the replies confused me), So is Pikachu a guy or a girl? and please do leave a comment on WHY you think that.

in battle it's a boy but in everything else it's a girl.

 

well its either Ash's Pikachu is a male or Dawn's Buneary is a lesbian.....

also even though its new, but the tail do tell something about the gender.
