......Yes, Ironic that I am an American, and yet I seem to be trash-talking my own country. But it's true, many of the people I meet (especially around my age) are just a bunch of morons who blindly believe whatever they see (that isn't true) on the media then have their minds blow everything out of proportion (screw the media). In fact I managed to make a clique list for my high school.

-The "Gangster" group of the school consists of a bunch of insecure zeros who don't have the balls to take care of themselves, thus depend on some head honcho and his "homies" to do his dirty work. They tend to believe that they can beat up anyone so long as it's in the man's room, thus showing their cowardice.

-The "bratty kids" are the ones I usually find trying to be another Paris Hilton. They are simply self-preservative and... well... bratty. Small nuisances made big.

-Then there are the "super-nerds" who can't even strike a conversation unless it's about Anime, cartoons, video games, movies, and trading cards. Don't get me wrong, I like anime, video games, and that stuff (except cards), but Christ, these guys have probably lost all touch of reality!

-Oh great, "jocks," the over-enigmatic muscle-heads that believe that winning is everything and the only thing that matters. Sorry sports fans, but I see no point in all of these contests. sure I'd play tennis or go swimming, but not when everyone is on my ass! And besides, what's a trophy at the end of the day? Metal, wood, and plastic. simple material. And what about fame? Blind worship!

-Finally, the guys that I hate the most, "Neo-Nazis." ......Okay, so they're not Nazis, but the fact that they constantly consider their race or religion or whatever supreme and shoot down anyone who doesn't agree (if you know what I mean) may as well make them all the same! All they do is give Europe (and I) all the more to hate America.

Read em and weep! the stereotypical Cliques of my high school; Stupid, right!? And think about it, I'm gonna have to put up three more years of this bullshit! Damn it! God, where are you when I need you!?

Ah well... still I guess all our generation has done is make Martin Luther King's work all obsolete in the end.

You know HumrH360, your school sounded a lot like my high school: every had their little clique, and hang-out areas and weird mentalities. Its so silly, and it doesn't help everyone to come together and just chill. Oh well, its the world of today.

Highschool is enjoyable, but I hate the fact that everyone doesn't like studying....

Wait till you get to university, its all about parties, sex and how fast can you get drunk. All in the night before you have a final the next day hahhaha :)
Actually, there are very few people who can do all that, study and still do well in school. But Kamage, people do study in college... so stay in school :p

Seriously, I'd rather live in Canada than in here! The social system there works like this: You are not forced to learn another language or anything so long as you obey the law. This is better known as pluralism I think.

    So true... So true...
    My school system-
"Idiots": Stupid, cocky, horrible and mostly bullies, they usually have a ring leader
"The Chavs/Moshers/Goths group": A stereotype mash-up, none of them are really friends and most people hate them because they are horrible, bitchy and try to look tough... Wannabe bullies
Just "Chavs": Basic chavs, listen to their terrible music, chew gum obcessively, bad attitude, etc
(Words changed to avoid being told off)Unintelligent: The group of less entelligent members, seem to get on alright but it's like talking to a brick wall...
"Boffs": Generally smart and nerdy, mixes into the stereotype mash-up a bit
"Scrubbers": The less well-off and dirty looking groups, very untrusting...
Unclassified: No name for it, small groups of people, not really got a group, I fit into this because I lost the little popularity I had before people divided into groups as much, I hate bitchy people...
Slags: They do certain things alot, and they group in a bit with the "Idiots"
There's a couple more groups but i'm tired i'll add them tomorrow...

You're the first person on the internet to ever write a list like this.

Exaggeration and sarcasm are the same things generally, but i'd rather keep none fully obvious sarcastic posts out of the debate section because there's no point to the post, but I don't make the rules nor do I fully know them...

Do you guys think it's ironic that a set of grades on some paper dictates what you can do and join?

  18. elk1007

    elk1007 Well-Known Member

    No.
It's stupid, but I don't see the irony.

The irony is that all the hard work you do, and what do you get in return? A piece of paper with some letters on...

Yeah, because money isn't the same thing >_>

    Grading is a symbolic practice.
It's done so that people who are capable of particular abilities can provide evidence for those abilities.
    It's useful.

The thing that's wrong with grading is that people are held to a particular standard while they're all at least slightly different.
The standard does not effectively encompass the entire student body, and does not always allow one to express their true talents and abilities.

Don't hate something just because it's symbolic.
Hate it because it isn't efficient.
