For my birthday I think I might be getting a iPod Touch 4th generation (16-32GB), how do I jailbreak it/get free apps? Times are getting hard these days and my parents probably won't pay for apps. Can it be jailbroken fully btw? Like complete free Apps that work? Also, I heard jailbreaking lags the iPod Touch's songs, how do I prevent that, is there like another way to get free apps while making the songs work?

    Thanks in advance~~

    it says
    "software version 4.2.1"
BTW - is there a way to jailbreak it/get free apps (that cost$$) without breaking/bricking and not lagging my music?

Right, there should be instructions included with the downloads and at the bottom of the page is support.

You can find your ISPW stored here: C:\Users\=INSERT YOUR ACCOUNT NAME HERE=\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

    It's safe right?

Edit: So what do I download? Also how does jailbreak work?

Yes, it is, and if you mess up your jailbreak you can easily restore it if you think you've bricked it by doing this:

Hold down the Home button for five seconds.
Keep it down, then start holding the power/sleep button for ten seconds.
Release the power button and keep holding the home/sleep button for about 30 seconds or so.

So how does jailbreak work? do I just "install" apps that are "pay for" and it counts as free? Kinda confused. All I know is that it's free. Also my music will be fine right?

You can download all three if you want, you can just download sn0wbreeze and use that but since you don't know what you're doing I recommend using all three in order of how they're listed on the site.

The jailbreak just 'unlocks your device' by removing some restrictions and adding some extra bits and pieces. You won't really notice much change but there'll be like a new 'tab' if you slide to the side with the Cydia icon. You can download your apps from there.
I'm not really in the mood to explain the whole technical process, if that's what you're asking, since it might go over your head. :p

    Edit: Slow down, kiddo!

Yes, your music will be fine and all that stuff, if it's deleted you can just re-add it to iTunes anyways.
You can add repo's for certain apps that aren't free, it'll have a bunch of free apps and a bunch of apps that just aren't on iTunes like GBA emulators and stuff.

Yes, it works with the latest firmware, it should tell you what to do when you start up the programs. :p
If you're a little scared you can check the support and forums on the website.

    Edit:
A good repo to get free apps from is:

    Edit 2:
I'll be going to bed now, if you have any questions I'm sure other forum members could help or you could try google.
    Good luck!
