Not entirely sure this can be done, I'm just trying to install game files to my computer without actually opening the setup. I want to do this because installing games the normal way install files to various locations, and these files are not removed when uninstalling. I have, or had, files from a long while ago in the registry to games that have been uninstalled already. Can it be done? With the command prompt maybe? No?
Only a few games actually work by copy-pasting the directory and playing it as is. Most games require the use of the registry to play. The way to mitigate having excess registry values is to run a registry cleaner. It will find all references to a registry key that is no longer being used. This isn't just for games, it can be used for any program that was uninstalled and has leftover registry values. I use Registry Clean Expert. It has a special case setting (the last option) that is normally disabled and it gives you a whole sales pitch as to why you wouldn't normally want to enable it and that is the reason for why it picks up less registry values than other registry cleaners. Most other registry cleaners pick up registry values that reference places that don't exist, but are still valid and obviously deleting these registry keys will cause issues. Registry Clean Expert can pick these up, but you'll need to enable the last option for it to pick it up. It's for this reason and this reason only that I like to use Registry Clean Expert and no other.
