    Hello community :)

I hope this is the right place for my question. If not, please move it.

Sometimes I read "incomplete header" in the release notes of some games.
What exactly is the game header? And are there any disadvantages if the header is incomplete?

Yesterday I downloaded the German Pokemon Platinum which is, as far as I know, the scene release (CRC32: 7567561E).
According to advanscene.com there is another ROM with CRC32: 37E9D9E5. In the notes it says "Proper! Scene Release has Incomplete header!".
What is the difference between those two ROMs?

I hope someone can explain me.

    Regards Chacu

Incomplete header means some of the data in the ROM is not identical to the data in the game. Whether the game can be played or not depends on what data is missing, but regardless it's always an improper dump if it's not 1:1.

    Thanks for explanation! :D
It's playable, so there is no important data missing.

The Header of ROM , If its dump with a good are missing data in header dose not effect the ROM from playing in any way.

It just effects the correct crc32 only.

To dump an nds game with a good header, Use wooddumper r85 with any flashcard and original cartridge swap ;D

    Ok, thanks.
That means, patches, cheats and the like are also not affected right?

    They are.
Each ROM dump has a different CRC32. So you can't use cheats designed for a good dump on a bad dump.
