I'm guessing it's a plugin issue, but I don't know where to start.

I'm using ePSXe 1.7 and for the most part it works pretty well. There are some games, though, that get to the title screen and go no further. They'll show whatever opening movies they show and then stop where it says "press start" or whatever. These are:
The Fifth Element
Descent Maximum
WipEout (there might be more but I don't remember)
I can't think of any sort of relationship between these games aside from the fact that they all freeze in pretty much the same spot. I'm using Pete's OpenGL2 driver 2.9, and I tried switching between that one and his D3D Driver 1.77 but as far as I can remember it didn't change anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

sometimes games just don't work, simple as that :-\
Emulation isn't perfect. There isn't much you can do about it.

 

PSX emulation is very close though.

Try using older versions of ePSXe like 1.5.2 and 1.6.0, and tweaking the settings of your plugins a bit.
