http://wii.ign.com/articles/107/1077356p1.html it's a great read! i like that apple question. it seems very fitting. everyone is super hyped about apple becoming a gaming contender, then reggie asks what will they do with the device and they replied, "i don't know". the first question is very insightful. it explains how sony's motion controller is not a big deal as everyone keeps saying. everything sony has shown is nothing more then sony's reiteration of nintendo's games. i like that $100 question about the move. i noticed that many game sites have constantly refering to the price, but did they ever consider the overall price? nintendo argues, it doesn't matter if there are new competition coming into video games. why nintendo isn't worried isn't so much that they are a company named nintendo, but rather that nintendo specializes in video games. what other company specializes in video games? on the second page, there is a question about wii 2 or wii hd. reggie clearly have explained why they will release a new console. so do expect the wii to stay around for quite sometime. the next wii won't just be hd btw.
One cool thing about the Playstation Move, it has the Z axis. Wii does not have this. (Unless you get that extra add on for the wii, which by the way is not part of the "core" which you will see more of below) Reggie says the Playstation Move is not what the "Core" of the playstation is all about and this is true so we wont see much change in the types of releases of games that come out. But this does open up new and interesting doors and shouldn't be knocked in any way. The Wii freaks the fuck out when you point the wii remote off the tv screen. Playstation Move does not, thank that little glowing ball at the end of it for that. Obviously the Playstation Move is better technology, you can try to disapprove that but the evidence is there, but still, its been a few years so thats expected. But the way you defend the Wii like its the end all system is just fucking pathetic. Why don't you just stop? It's like you make these posts because your delusions start to wear off and this shit just distorts your views right back to the fucked up Nintendo humping way it was.
I believe the WiiMotion plus does have this... well, you have to remember that the technology used in the wiimotes is close to five years old now, which in technological terms is near ancient... so you can't go bashing nintendo with that sole reason.
I did point out the Wii Motion plus, I just happen to of called it the extra add on thing. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I also pointed out the technological age, could you try reading it again?
I suppose I misunderstood those parts that I pointed out... but after re-reading them I see what you meant
i, for one, am disappointed that Sony resorted to ripping off what made Nintendo successful. i know the motion control is a Wii gimmick, but it was a very successful Wii gimmick, in which they popularized. honestly, what would Sony to do better this? By doing motion controls on HD? i agree with Reggie that Sony should instead focus on new innovation instead of copying the current one and simply make it better. you dont move forward with being a copycat. i also liked what se said about HD alone is not the future. i agree. HD is definitely something Nintendo plans on in the future, but there's a technology out there that still has been untapped that Nintendo plans to work on, and together with the HD capability, will make their next gen system the most revolutionary unit (the Wii isn't the best, its far from it, but it IS the best selling and the most revolutionary console of this gen).
Since when did the Wii make Nintendo so successful? They have always had a loyal fan base through thick and thin. The Wii did not solely give Nintendo it's name in the gaming industry. Everything it has ever done has contributed to the power-house. The big 3 are the main ones, but Nintendo is one of the oldest in the gaming industry.
wait... whos everyone? most people i meet didnt have any intrest on PS move.... if the PS move still function like they show on E3, IIRC they use PS Eye to track the wand... rather the glowing ball at the wand.
LOL! did you really just asked this question? Tip: look at Gamecube's sales, then look at Wii's sales.
I think he meant how Nintendo was a household name before the Wii. Or, you could just read the rest of his post. I didn't know about Segas and Playstations when they came around, all I knew was 'Nintendo'. The Gamecube and N64 weren't the most successful consoles, but the SNES and NES sure as hell were. Quoted for truth and.. I wouldn't call the Playstation Move a new tech. It's near similar to green screening. The camera looks for a color that's not frequently used, and uses it, or replaces it with another image. The interaction part is kind of new, but that's like saying that the accelerometers, tilt sensors, IF sensors in the Wii are new in the sense of interaction. Also if the camera cannot see the ping pong ball on the end, it could do a different button, like that gladiator game they had demoed at GDC, if it couldn't see it, your character did a taunt. Along with that, one thing that bugs me a lot about the Wii is that I can never get the calibration right in terms of the Wiimote placement, meaning my cursor for the Wiimote was always jittery. I played around with the limited settings on it but to my avail, nothing, it's always been like that and it's annoying. My Wii freaks the fuck out no matter if I'm pointing at the screen or away. And for the Playstation Move, unlike the Wii, you won't have to recalibrate it as much as the motion plus. Whatever happens though, I can pretty much make a guess that the Move and Natal won't take off for very long.
Well, they both work together actually, the glowing ball scans the room for the least used color then it turns that color, then tells the eye to lock onto this color so thats how it works
I actually read his entire post, and that's why I compared the Gamecube to the Wii. It's not like everything Nintendo touches turns to gold, just because it has the Nintendo name on it (like he suggests). Perfect examples: Virtual Boy, N64, Gamecube. If they have such a loyal fanbase, then the PS2 shouldn't have had the epic run that it had/still having, you know what I mean? Everything realized that the PS1 and PS2 were had the better library than the N64 and Gamecube, respectively, so they bought what they think is better. Same with the PS3, just because the PS1 and PS2 were a huge hit doesn't mean the people would be blind to buy a PS3 without knowing what's in store for the system. They're not stupid enough to have bought an expensive system with a low amount of quality games just because Sony made it. Right now is different as Sony is starting to gain ground slowly, but before this was the case.
wait, in E3 they show that glowing ball is an activator indicator.....(meaning the ball color change when certain button are pressed) i guess they change it......
and here is what the hardcore and the industry think about the interview, http://www.gamesradar.com/f/reggies-recent-pr-madness-translated-into-sense/a-2010031811548620098 you have to laugh at these things. read the crazy comments left by the users. reggie is the president of nintendo of america.
Ultra, you have to realize a lot of what Gamesradar says is tongue and cheek, and there's at least a little bit of truth in their 'translations' Also some of the comments seem truthful to me. And Nintendo has painted themselves in a corner (referring to the article), there's not much they can do in the way of 'revolutionizing' the way we play games for now. Also regardless of what Nintendo says, I guarantee you they'll have their next console around the time the PS4/Next Xbox comes out, and that should be (I'm guessing) around 2 years or so. They'll either have to: A) Go back to controller gaming B) Continue with motion control and incorporate the Wii motion plus (ie Z axis). C) Bump up the graphics along with B or A D) Virtual Reality gogogo After the Move, and Natale come out, there's not much in the way of controller gaming unless you want to toy with Virtual Reality or a treadmill to simulate walking or some crap.
