My brother and I have bought a PS3 and a wii. off the shelf ps3 was 300$ off the shelf wii was 200$

We bought the playstation first, and since then bought another controller. It costs about 365$ to get a ps3 going. playing online, and the internet is free. and the controllers are rechargeable. So the side-costs stop there. No AA's or battery packs to buy. No internet fees. (and it saves a potential 150$ by giving you a blu-ray player.)

The 360 is 200$ off the shelf, and another controller puts it up to about 250$. A good deal, but its about 50$ a year to play online. and who wants a 360 if they cant play multiplayer games online. So that bumps it up to about 300$ to get a 360 going. and the controllers run on AA's, but its better to just buy rechargeables. setting up both of the controllers with rechargeables will run about 30 more dollars. or you can buy AA's(that adds up quick) So if you want a 360 setup it costs closer to 330$, but keep in mind theres a regular online-play fee. (and if you want a blu-ray player in your house be ready to put down at least 150$ more, but thats not really a 360 cost .Thats just something to keep in mind when buying your console.)

The wii is probably most expensive. It's 200 off the shelf, but if you want what you thought you get with a wii your mistaken. we learned that the hard way. 200$ off the shelf and another controller about 245$. The wii uses AA's as well so stack on another 30$ for that. So were at about 275$. Then i found out you need the "motion pack plus" to play all the games. 50$ more for 2. So were at about 325$. and the wii is great because you can play games from other systems, they sell em cheap too. but you need a "wii classic controller to play em." theres another 15 or 20 dollars. So were at about 340$. free online-play, no fees or anything. but if your not using the wrist-strap it's an accident waiting happen. Whether the remote breaks a picture frame or a 40in plasma, it's a "potential" cost. ( and i realize throwing the wii-mote is on the user, not an actual cost. but accidents happen. (i saw my brothers brand new 40in. vizio busted by someone golfing without the strap. apparently thats common with wii users.) and i forgot. when you buy controllers they don't come with the nun-chuck, another 15 or 20$

    PS3 about 365$
    X-box 360 about 330$+
    Wii about 365$+

It comes down to about a 25$ difference between them. But the charges continue replacing batteries, and playing online.

As far as games go thats up to the buyers, and where they buy them.

You could always use the argument that the PS3 is also a bluray player and DVD player, along with a multimedia machine beast gaming hybrid.

The PS3 is the best in terms of more bang for your buck (if you're into Bluray and multimedia machines).

At first I could understand how rediculously priced the PS3 once was, but even then I knew even with the rediculosuly high price, it still is worth it.

There really isn't the excuse anymore that the PS3 is too expensive. If a person purchases a 360 over a PS3 just to play the games that are already on PS3, they're really ignorant peices of work.

What you forgot to mention is how common it still is for 360's to break down on you. Yes, there is extended warranty...but just recently my friend recieved back his 360 after months to realize that Microsoft didn't fix anything at all.

I get really anxious with my 360 and tend to use it much less then my other current gen consoles. I know there is a big chance that in 3-4 years time my 360 will probably break down and I'll have no warranty to cover it. Now why would anyone want to risk spending $300+ on a console that has no cover at all in 3 years time?

xbox vs ps3 vs wii already exists.

Nothing new will be added here that isn't already being discussed in that topic.
