If you get a lot of EV points in a single level, major stat point increase?

So I was EV training one of my pokemon for Sp. Atk, but I decided to shorten the time by using pokesav to give me about 150 more EV in special attack. I realized that because the level of my pokemon didn't change, this means that I essentially gained 150 EV points in a single level. WHen my pokemon leveled up, it's sp. atk skill rose by about 20 points. I'm just wondering if I had gained the 150 EV points by fighting these weak pokemon over and over again, would that have happened as well?

    yes it would.
for training sp. atk you have to fight
    gastly haunter and gengar.
a pokemon can get 512 ev
but you've got to divide it.
in your case i think the best would be
252 ev for sp.atk 252 for ini and 8 for hp.
    fighting a gastly you 2 sp.atk ev
for haunter 3 and genger 4 sp.atk ev.
for speed fight magikarp (2 ini ev).
its not important if you gain the evpoints
in one level or in more levels. you get
    1 sp.atk when you gained 4 sp.atk ev.

You're just a little off on a few things. First, Pokemon can gain a MAX of 510 Effort Points (EP). Next, a pokemon can only put a MAXIMUM of 255 EP on one stat. Also, the MAX EP a pokemon can give from a battle is 3. For your example, Gastly = 1 sp. atk, Haunter = 2 sp. atk, and Gengar = 3 sp. atk.

Going back on topic, even if you didn't use Pokesav, this is totally possible in the real game. It can't happen with low level Pokemon because they'd level up from all the experience, but if you effort train a high level Pokemon using low level Pokemon, it is completely possible to do this.

That, and I've actually tried a little experiment with PPSE-DS (Pokesav for DS)
Basically when I change the EV or IV value it immediately shows the stat change right? Well I've noticed that for low levels EV's will not uber stack with the same results of doing it on something higher level

Also, the ABSOLUTE max EV you can get from one Pokemon is probably like 12.
Let's assume you kill a Gengar and get 3 sp. attack EV's. With Pokerus you get that value doubled. With Macho Brace you get that doubled, again. I think the two bonuses stack onto each other

Ah yes, I too have noticed that. Actually, when I modify my Pokemon with it, not only does it show the stat improvement right away, but it recovers HP, status and PP as well.

Also, I completely forgot about the vitamins. If someone gives 10 of whatever to a Pokemon then levels it up, a massive stat increase would be noticed as well. Of course, with low level Pokemon, it won't be that massive, but in relation to its other stat increases during the lv. up, it is massive.

Haha, true enough, I misused the term MAX. Hmm . . . in that case . . . actually hans martin is still off - Haunter would give 4 Sp. atk EV if either Macho Brace or Pokerus is active, and Gengar would give 6 Sp. Atk. EV

I've also noticed that sticking your pokemon in a box normalizes the stats. If you apply 252 EVs before leveling up, sticking it in a box will give you the stat increases, obviously without the stat increase due to leveling up. This is how you can EV train level 100 Pokemon as well.

let me get this clearly. 4 EP is equal to 1 major Stat increase?

how many major Stat increase is 255 (or 510) EP anyways? i'm confused on how it works :p

It's 4 EVs to one stat gain. So the max you can get is 252 EVs (the other 3 are junk and can be used elsewhere). If you want to have a sweeper spread, usually it's 252 EVs in two stats, and 6 (2 being junk) in the last one. It equals 510.

I was pretty sure that Lv100 Pokémon can't be EV trained anymore, since EV points come with Exp. Points, and Lv100s don't gain Exp. points anymore.
252 EV = 63 base stat point increase.
100 EV = 25 base stat point increase.
    Do the math.

    Incidentally...
Stat increases from EV training isn't always applied right away at lower levels, just to maintain balance.
    As an example...
If a Lv20 Heracross has 50 ATTACK without EVs, and 252 EV points in ATTACK are to be applied, said Heracross would have 113 ATTACK at Lv20.

What they do instead (my own personal guess) is...
    Lv20 = 20% of EV increase
    20% of 63 = 12.6
Lv20 Heracross with 50 ATTACK will have 62-63 ATTACK with max EVs on ATTACK.
Same can be said for IVs.

You can apply EVs through the EV items like Protein, Carbos, Iron, etc. but these are capped at 100 EVs per stat.

side question, in what level is the best for a pokemon to be EV trained?

EV training comes into effect at all levels. Little Cup relies on it. This is false, it's just that EV training tends to be so time-consuming that most people don't specialise, thus the EVs tend to be quite similar across all stats.

Anything up to about Level 90. It depends on what you're training against, but L20 onwards is probably your best bet.

Stat recalculations are only done when a Pokemon is in a Box or has levelled up, so yeah.
