    the anti-aliasing quality.
i havent any problem with the graphics aside the anti-ailiasing quality.
the ds could use a resolution upgrade, but its not that big a deal.
do you know how much more money nintendo could make if they had better graphics, though?
at least 1/4 360 owners would get a MUCH better opinion about the wii if they did!

    Yeah, but think of this.
Granted, the Wii is lacking in the graphics department, but what it lacks in looks it makes up for in innovativeness.
    Look at it like this:
The Wii gains recognition and great sales because of its fun peripherals, games, et cetera.
The Wii gains recognition for its innovation, and its uniqueness.
The Wii gains recognition for its family value.
Because of these three factors, The Nintendo Wii has sold nearly as many units than the Xbox 360 and the PS3 COMBINED! [Approximately 56 million units compared to approximately 58 million.]
As the Wii has sold a considerable amount more units than any of the other two systems, Nintendo has allowed for a greater profit, therefore allowing them to create their next console with greater graphics than any other Generation Eight system.
Imagine it - finally, Nintendo will bring out a console that completely demolishes it's competitors, in the areas of both Graphics and Fun-ness!

afaik not even today's consoles have antialiasing. That was the case last gen, so it may still be true. At any rate, antialiasing requires a lot of horsepower in a graphics card, since it has to render the screen in 3-D, then smooth out the edges of polygons using an algorithm. And that's a minimum of 30 times per second! There's no way the DS could handle it. I'd be surprised if the PSP could do it.

As for 2-D, well. You can't antialias a sprite with a function or anything; 2-D graphics that are antialiased are done by hand by a pixel artist. There's an entire theory behind it, and if you're a pixel artist like me you can tell what's good AA, mechanical AA (as in 3-D) and bad AA. The key is in the number of colors and placement of pixels.

Wii doesn't neeed more power...just a few more better games.

I'm dying here for something that'll blow my mind like no more heros did...

Yeah, it does need more power, so it can MAKE BETTER GAMES.

If only the Wii could play Assassin's Creed 2, without removing 3/4's of the content like they did with Dead Rising.

I disagree. It allows for potentially better games, but depending on how the hardware is built and how easy the SDK is to use, extremely powerful hardware could be crippled by bad architecture and libraries. Great games are formed from great ideas, not great technology.

Technology available to the devs could cripple the ideas that could make potentially good games.

No doubt that the two are somewhat related, but limitations are what give birth to creativity. Technology alone does not make a good game.

What's wrong with that screenshot? The HUD could look better, but something tells me that was intentional. What's so crippling about the Wii? Which ideas does the Wii cripple; things that absolutely _are not possible_?

I'm disappointed by the Wii as well, but not because it's not gr4fxy enough; third party developers have been lazy as hell in their dealings with the Wii. Nintendo seems to be the only dev who cares enough to put real effort into their Wii games. I'd love to be proven wrong, btw.

    This is what's wrong.

Ideas that spark games like Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Fallout 2, or any game that has a ridiculously huge amount of anything is impossible if the tech is not up to par. A game like Knights Of The Old Republic would be ridiculously hard to make if the tech were for the Wii or even the 360 due to the amount of audio work is done in that game. Something large and expansive, seeing things miles and miles away would be impossible to replicate on lower grade tech, something like Morrowind or Oblivion is limited by it's technology. The purpose of these large and expansive games is so they can create a large and flowing world, even still they're limited by the tech.

I didn't mean that tech alone makes a great game, but it could help.

I'm disappointed by the Wii also, given the same reason as you've given.

Although I'd kill for an HD upgrade, I just want the Wii to display 720p. :\
