IDE to SATA adapter

    can anyone point me in the direction of an adapter to plug my IDE hard drive into a SATA port

    my PC has 2 IDE ports, but I can only use one at a time for some reason, meaning I have to choose between using my second HDD (which contains just about everything besides windows files) and DVD burner.

    They exist, but its a waste of a sata port.

    proper IDE configuration has hard disks on the primary channel (master for OS disk, slave for other) and optical drives on the secondary channel. Later IDE controllers sometimes enforced this (i.e ATAPI optical disks would not work on the primary channel and/or hard disks would not work on the secondary)

    If the system allows you to put the optical drive as secondary device on the primary channel, this is a bad idea because due to the bus architecture the optical drive will slow down the master device.
