I wonder why some games need the disc...

    Just wondering.

Why do some games need the disc when you want to play them, while you also can put all the files on the hard drive?

When the CD dies, your game cannot be played, so....

older games use data from the disc because at the time hard disks weren't very big. Newer games its a form of copy protection.

Ok, but still, some crappy games (Worms for example) still need the disc, when the game is only 27 MB.

And the games crash so much.

A CD patch is the solution, as long as it turns out not to be spyware.

Yeah that's why I don't trust keygens and that sort of stuff since I have NO ANTIVIRUS.

I have my reasons: AVG Free removes files from games my mom wants to play causing the game to be unable to boot.

maybe because the game is infected?

No, AVG thinks the game's file is an virus and then removes the file, but in fact the game is safe...

    Know Zylom? We download there.

    Worms is crappy? Blasphemy... ._.

And I use Daemon tools when I'm lazy to carry discs around, it creates disc images and emulates them.

but that won't work most of the time, especially if the fix for a specific OS is a SecuROM fix. -.-"

Worms is NOT a crappy game :p

My friends & I used to have tons of fun playing it years ago. We especially loved modding the PC versions such as changing the worm voices with our own voices.

Then you need to find a work around patch that disables SecureDisc protection, but you're on your own with that :)

Then surely excluding the file/s from scanning would be a better solution than having no anti-virus... (or deleting key-gens after using them.)

Mom installs alot of games and I ain't gonna select 400 files from one game.

I mean that it is not too great, bubble shooter.

AW MY GOD I LOST MY SIMS SUPERSTAR CD!
AND IT MUST BE CD 2 TOO

And I lost my serial keys for Superstar, Hot Date, On Vacation and House Party...

And The Sims crashes when opening the career panel. I think if it is on a HDD that it works fine.

Looking at the site, the games probably ARE infected. Regardless, uninstalling your antivirus is NOT the correct response to an alert that you don't agree with.

It was not my responce..it was an advanced computer guy's responce.

And Zylom really is no virus hosting site. It is a trustable company.

Anyway, we had to remove AVG. It was causing other troubles, though.

then you should have got a different antivirus. running without an AV is not an option for a computer with internet access.
