Hi people of Romulation. I decided that i want to learn how to code. It has always fascinated me and it turns out that most successful people know how to (e.g. Mark Zuckerberg, Jullian Assange, etc.) So, i was wondering if there are any softwares out there that can help me start. It doesnt matter what language it is. I just want to learn how to code. I know it will take me a while but i have a looooot of time..
software doesnt teach programming, books do. It does matter what language you learn; different languages have different purposes.
What exactly do you want to do? It'll be easier to recommend a language if you give us an idea of what you'd like to be capable of doing.
I want to be able to create a program that does what i want and to be able to open up a program and alter the code. I think that is C++...not sure...
This. Or pour over tons of books for a really long time learning the very basic things up to the very complicated. C++ is far from simple and will take a long time to learn and even longer to be good enough with to create something that doesn't suck. I also wouldn't call the creator of Wikileaks successful, but that may just be me.
haha yeah. Most people wouldnt call a person accused of sexual harrasment to be successful... if c++ is so difficult, then what is the simplest??
What's 'simple'? It also depends on what you want to make and how simple simple can get. If you want to make your own game for example, simple shit isn't going to make it. I could say stuff like oh HTML! or oh, program Karel! But it really depends on what you want it for and how you're going to use it. Best way's to
you cant just open up a program and alter the code. Programs have to be disassembled and the resulting code is not human readable.
Blehck. I tried learning computer programming in college, but after seeing what Java really was, I couldn't learn it...and that's the only programming language that they taught... The best thing you can do is go to college like everyone stated above.
A proper college/university course of study will build you up from the basics, making it easier to understand everything later on. While trying to learn yourself by jumping right in to the programming language you want to learn is far from impossible, it is not the most efficient way to do it. Plus, getting a degree will let you actually do something with your new found knowledge and skills. Not that you can't do anything with self-taught knowledge/skills, but it is much easier when you have that piece of paper which tells companies you have the skills you claim to have. Warning though, this course of study is not for everyone. When I was in college, Computer Science was one of the top programs that people dropped out of. It was filled with incoming Freshmen who wanted to "Make Video Games!". They soon found out that learning programming and being successful at it required more than just a desire to make video games. Start the en devour with a desire to learn how to program and how computers and their software work. Otherwise you will be disappointed.
dude im in colage we have eli and pascal soon java XD start with turbo pascal you will learn simple english commands that are almost same in java i think that is good start
