For many years i've laughed at this sort of stuff but these knock-off Nigel ones are really starting to annoy me, as of course you guys would agree that almost none of us are like the pirates portrayed in such videos.

And of course many of us have reason not to buy these DVDs and games, whether it be money or whether it be you are sick of being screwed over by producers with things like Imagine games, some of us want to see some old stuff too without tracking down some crappy old boxset.

I've noticed how they mention cheap alot and how they expect you to buy these things, it's very anti-poor, how are people supposed to pay for all these things?

The companies that usually support this are also very rich and pirates don't damage those companies, they are just very greedy.

Things like these videos actually encourage me to do piracy more as to hurt them, what do you guys think?

They come off as way too harsh and extreme, there's nothing they can do to stop piracy, they just can't stop it. These ads have absolutely no effect on me. I'll still download, I won't effect my habits just because of a silly ad that's too extreme for it's own good. The things that make me want to pirate more is when some gets arrested for it, it's silly.

Even funnier that ad was played in theatres and DVD, I mean, if you were a hardcore pirate, you wouldn't be in either situation.

RIAA is nothing but a frivolous, fraudulent organization made to sue "online thieves" for obscenely unreasonable amounts of money. They claim to be defending artists, particularly ones who do terrible in sales due to lousy work, just to make sure that those artists get enough money to afford luxuries.

    On a related news article:
    http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-10268199-93.html

My heart goes out to Ms. Thomas-Rassett. For the RIAA to be awarded $1.92 million from a single-mom who is barely able to make ends meet is highly ludicrous. If the RIAA thinks they can make an example out of a poor single-mom to stop online pirates, they are sorely mistaken as their very litigious action has vilified their image even further.

Also, Cara Duckworth can suck my duck.

As i've said they're greedy bastards,
i've heard numerous rumours of them setting bots up and sites that look legitimate

So far they haven't got many people but they seem to overcharge of what the person would pay for

Ridiculous. I don't even understand how they can assume that the "damages" caused from those 24 songs could come out to that much. The record industry could have made a limited edition radon cd that gave me testicular cancer after playing it once, and I'd probably be lucky if I got 1/100 of what they were awarded.

I think that this is all a load of bullshit to keep the money flowing into the bank accounts of all of these companies. I think they should back the heck off and take the money from all of the stupid people out there like they have been all of these years and be happy.
You see, when people get smart, the companies see this as a threat because all of the common people can use the same legal loopholes to take their money.
I mean, look at YOUTUBE! Warner Music Group has been pulling videos that contain so little as 5 seconds of their music, or any music artist that they own!

Don't even start to mention SQUARE ENIX and their Anti-Piracy.
Also it is rumored that Nintendo is going to add NEW ANTI-PIRACY to their ROMs this WINTER that will CORRUPT THE ROM if it is used on an Emulator or Flashloader/Flashcart like R4DS.

Well, at least Nintendo isn't engaging people in frivolous lawsuits. They have every right to try any anti-piracy to protect their works.

Anti-piracy measures in ROMs: I like em, I feel that we SHOULD have to work for our ROMs if we aren't buying them (another reason I like the "point system" that romu uses)

Once upon a time, I merely trialed games, I downloaded a ROM, played it to see if I liked it, then bought the game.
Now, now that the companies are going to ridiculous lengths to "discourage" piracy and seem to be worrying more about people downloading their games then people buying their games, I've stopped buying DS games (unless the games are rather exceptional and deserve to be bought) I now simply download the ROM and life goes on.

And this is where we go to gbatemp and wait for patches to be released. Even if it corrupts the rom, you should always have a clean backup. SONY seems to be doing more anti piracy than Nintendo. I mean some versions of the PSP slim and the PSP-3000 are not hackable, and anything running past 5.03 is screwed for the time being.

With NDS, it's a simple chip and play.

let's just hope the rumor isn't true. if it is,well...just hope it only affects old flashcarts like r4.

So far the Cyclo doesn't even need to run patches...
I just booted up the games, turned on the backup cheat and voila! It plays!

YSMenu never has any protection issues, it runs fast and smooth too

Did EDGE stop updating? They updated for GTA-CW compatibility pretty soon, though.

Piracy is unstoppable. They should either embrace it, or be run out of business.

its not like we stealing anything if we take it its still there for all the others

If you want to do something to fight the RIAA see this http://www.boycott-riaa.com/
Boycotts are rarely successful until they become mass movements, this campaign is big enough now for the industry and artists to take notice. Scum don't deserve your money.

guess what when the last remnant came out I downloaded it for pc. Last week I bought the real because I liked it so much I wanted it in my libary of games. In fact I download games play them buy them. I think the companies deserve my money when their games are good.

I love romulation or as I like to call it Trialulation ;)

Also companies should be flattered that I like their games so much that I'll download over 30 parts to play them and buy them.
