    so my thesis is already defended and it is already in hardbound

    i feel like part of me is saying to me to go here

    and here i am again...

    I imagine its a meeting where people criticise your work and you have to defend your findings and counter the criticism.

    That's correct loony, basically you present your thesis which may vary depending on your course or field of study to a panel of judges consisting of your Professor (or not in some cases), other professors in the same field & the head of your department. Then they will assess the quality of your research, the feasibility of your thesis' proposal & in some cases, the legitimacy of your paper, that is if it is indeed your personal research paper & not something you plagiarized from someone else.
