I am having trouble downloading here sometimes. I dont know why. I like Romulation a lot, I hope the problem gets resolved Also, does GTA chinatown wars DS good?
Yes, I am having problems as well. I am using Internet Explorer and get the message "X Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http:\\www.romulation.net/NDS/. Operation aborted OK" I click OK and it goes to the IE screen " IE cannot display the webpage etc." This also happens when I go to this forum. I can read the headers, but when I try to look at this topic, I get the same, or similar message as above. It does not look like a genuine IE message. I had to log in on another computer on my home network to be able to type this post. DaSensei, you mention GTA Chinatown Wars. It may just be a coincidence, but I just downloaded GTAcw last night and now the problems have started. Could it be a virus linked to that download?
Here is what I found on another site. It seems to describe the symptoms correctly. http://weblogs.asp.net/infinitiesloop/archive/2006/11/02/Dealing-with-IE-_2600_quot_3B00_Operation-Aborted_2600_quot_3B002E00_-Or_2C00_-how-to-Crash-IE.aspx He says "Unfortunately the error isn't very helpful, so if you run into this you will likely scratch your head searching for an answer. You'll probably find suggestions like "reinstall IE" or "use Firefox". Don't listen to that nonsense " I have no idea about Javascript or any other programming, but could it be something similar? BTW, I'm not saying you're reply is nonsense, Loonylion. No offense intended. It seems strange that this error only occurs on this site. If I have to install Firefox to use only for this site, so be it, but it seems like a waste of resources as I'm happy to use IE in general.
Here's another possibility from Microsoft. It could be a problem with IE7. It says the solution is to upgrade to IE8. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917 I'm going to try that before installing Firefox.
if that guy is implying it's caused by code on the site then he can shut the fuck up because it IS IE's fault. Our code is fully standards compliant and validates, therefore any problems in that department are caused by the browser not adhering to the standards, something which IE is well known for. So yes, the answer IS to use firefox. The more people that use firefox, the more IE loses market share and the more likely M$ are to make it work properly and follow the standards. IE is the single biggest problem on the net these days (from a developer/webmaster's perspective).
Who ever said "Don't listen to that nonsense" doesn't know what they are talking about. Firefox is the answer. Hopefully this wide spread compatibility problem with Internet Explorer will either a.) Make more users switch to a safer browser like Firefox, or b.) Force Microsoft to open their eyes about their product.
Not just us. Ask any professional web developer what they think of IE and I promise you it won't be favourable.
IE8 is step in the right direction indeed. I have read multiple causes for, skype addon, msn addon, or using javascript to inject elements into the body tag of the code. I've tried going over the site with IE6, IE7 and IE8 and aside from some rendering problems in IE6 and IE8 then there's nothing tripping me up. So I can't replicate the error with just a base IE. Regardless, we're not doing anything we're not supposed to, so if this happens to people who use IE then I'm sorry to be an asshole and say that that's just too damn bad. Update to IE8 or use a better browser like Firefox, Opera or Safari and you don't have to experience this next time Microsoft messes up.
