i believe i read somewhere, about "jailbreaking" the Iphone for free stuff from the app store...if this is correct...is it possible to do something similar with an Ipod touch?

don't say i'm better off getting a game console, cuz i'm getting them to -.-"

its possible but you'd be better off getting a real MP3 player rather than an overpriced DRM infested piece of iCrap

    True.

I think real MP3 players work as good as a iPod Touch (if you are not using it for the games).

Plus you can access the internal flash memory via USB, and iPod needs to use CrapTunes to connect.

real MP3 players can have far better sound quality. Obviously theres good ones and bad ones, and in the sound quality stakes the ipods are right down the bad end.

    Also true.

I compared my MP3 player with my friends touch and my MP3 was way better (sound quality).

let me explain when you jailbreak an itouch or phone this allows content not from itunes this means apps of the internet dont play dont update as this obviously blocks the jailbreak also use an untethered jailbreak any jailbreak thats tethered you will have to do for every time you turn on the ipod (i know this and i dont have an ipod)

A Victory PMP-888 has a touchscreen and has a big screen...and has support for alot of video/audio types.

I suggest that if you want a real mp3 player.

I bought it for €90,-. An Touch would cost me €275,-.

DRM prevents you playing music on anything other than the iCrap and the exact computer it came from. It also stops you getting music back off of the iCrap.

There is also a website that allows you to bypass the appstore without jailbreaking your iphone. but you must be in wifi for the apps to work. i forget what its called though it was on attack of the show

I jail-broke my one (iPod Touch 2G), and it's pretty good if you want to carry around a portable emulator for anything up to GBA in terms of power (albeit with awkward touch-screen controls).

And there are a few applications floating around the net which let you transfer music to and from your ipod without using iTunes...

As for downloading iTunes apps for free, it depends on the repositories you use on Cydia; or you could just download a program called Installous to your ipod which has almost all of the apps in the iStore available for free.

Look up Blackra1n if you want an easy way to jailbreak...

jailbreak ipod touch by using spirit. this only jailbreaks it, if you want free app store applications , you have to also get installous
