I can't help but point out the double standard and hypocrisy involved in removing content...just because someone contacted you and shook their finger. Now, I've cruised through the site a few times since the issue came up...and you want to know something interesting? -everything- on the site with the possible exception of the framework software, is illegal in one way or another, from the screenshots of copyrighted material to the roms themselves, to the PS1 ISO images. Now, I'm not leaving any time soon, if anything, it's a good reference for downloading from other sites, but the simple fact is, it's all actionable material. So what's going to happen if the rest of the companies decide to take notice and cry? Is Romulation going to turn into nothing more than a forum and a list of games you can find on other sites?

I mean hell, if it were Sony complaining about the PS1 images...I guess I could understand that some of those are less than 12 years old...but the NES roms? Are you kidding me? You can't even find those things any more unless you happen to find one in a second-hand store or are willing to pay extortionate sums to buy from a collector/fanboy group. So trying to say that the purpose of Romulation is to 'try before you buy' is stretching things a bit...at least as far as the retro games category goes. The fact is, in it's own way, whether the staff wish to admit it or not, this has always been a low-grade pirate site...either start acting like it, or fold up shop and go home, cuz the more you bend over for whiny companies, the less content we will have and it can only end badly for the roms scene.

GO TO JAIL AND HAVE A VERY LARGE FINE OR CEASE WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

    Which one would you choose?

I don't see the hypocrisy here either.

"Can't do the time, don't do the crime."

See? I can throw around cliche`s too. If you're not willing to risk the penalty, why run the site in the first place? Or are you telling me that the site owner is somehow dumb enough to not now that offering PS1 images for download is illegal and considered piracy? I don't think he/she is that stupid...so they obviously knew what they were getting into when they started.

If they go to jail, you'll have to realize that this site would have just been shut down anyways.

    What cliche? where?

But at least the owner would have gone down swinging, instead of rolling over and playing dead. Besides, there are ways around being prosecuted for offering something as harmless as old-school game roms. There are dozens of other sites that manage to avoid any trouble...

You're just being selfish and inconsiderate now.

    You're very confusing.

Then, why are you complaining about piracy when you yourself are a pirate?
Hypocrisy it sounds to me. :p

You wanna be Bubba's bitch in prison?

Our problem has been sorted, YOU can host the roms taken down from here and with your ability to not go to jail all will be well. :)

I'm not complaining about piracy, I'm complaining about cowardice. If you remove content the second someone cries about it, it's almost no-time before you have no content at all, and if that's the end result, then what's the purpose of having the site up anyway? I should also point out that almost no one goes to prison for media piracy, even in the major multi-national busts and seizures over the last few weeks, less than 20 people were even brought in for questioning...

Then the site will be shut down and they'll probably owe millions of dollars.

the site was put up to help you. It was a free service and they don't need you to call them cowards.

He started off ok, good grammar, could understand his frustration, felt maybe we could discuss it.
Then he turned into a whiny spoilt brat that wants something for nothing just like all the others.

I like how you assume I've not been contributing, or that I don't contribute to the cause of free software...cute, but you're misinformed. Should probably keep your assumptions to yourself. Fact is, the owner new what he was doing when he started the site...and apparently doesn't have the scrot to stand up to a little legal pressure. Wonder what would happen if the rest of the software developers learned about this site and decided to call in. Then there'd be a hundred "goodbye to Romulation" posts and no download links anywhere...

    Sheep...bloody sheep.

When did we assume that you haven't been contributing? Now your bringing in even more invalid arguments.

Pay attention to your own words folks, "Wanting something for nothing" assumes I'm not giving as much as I receive.

It would help if you would tell us what you have been contributing. It seems like you only have 6 posts here.
