    PS3 Media Server (PMS lol).

I'm not gonna walk you through it, but there's your answer.
I would recommend the option to install as a Windows Service (in services.msc) so that it starts up when you start the computer. You can always disable the service if you change your mind after installing.

It gives you that option because it doesn't have a startup option, like most programs do, even programs you don't want to start up...

I have to note that it sometimes buffers (much like youtube does), so you might be interrupted while streaming. If that happens, decrease your network traffic or decrease the streaming quality. I have mine set to the medium settings and I haven't noticed any quality loss. This works better if your computer is wired in to the network and not using a wireless card.

Also, be sure to add in a new rule on your firewall, since it will be accepting new requests from the PS3 through that program. And don't forget to set the program to stream any video files in the given folder like your Desktop.

I forgot it does that. I've been using multiman's crappy showtime thing to play those files.

This is the ancient way of playing video files on the PS3. Not to mention that the PS3 willl play just about ANY video file (minus MKV) without the use of a third party program, there really is no need to use a converter. The PS3 is not a picky little bastard, unlike any handheld made by Apple.

I prefer to stream my video files over the network, because storing videos on the PS3 (or an external drive) just wastes precious space that could be used for install data, and entire games.

Most scene releases for TV shows, movies, etc. have really good compression in relation to quality. I've been trying to replicate it, but it seems they like keeping their secrets secret. Using a converter will just blow up your file sizes and you'll waste more space than necessary.
