okay so My ipod 4th gen is still on 4.2.1 and I want to upgrade to the latest because most my apps require either 4.3 or higher. I just want help on what should I do. Do i back up my ipod then update to 5.1.1 then jailbreak? Any help would be nice. If this topic is not allowed sorry, as well as if I have not posted in the correct section.

Oh man, I remember when I updated my iPhone to 5.1.1. It was a nightmare to get everything working again.

Do you mean putting your phone into DFU mode?

It is still required besides for A5 devices I believe.
And putting the iPhone/iPod/iPad into DFU mode is easy. I had no trouble doing it.

I remember updating jailbreaks was a nightmare...

I had mine stuck in DFU mode or would constantly loop the boot screen. Had to resort to a complete reset, which totally screwed with my untethered setup since anything at the time was tethered. I was so pissed.

I finally ended up with 5.0.1 untethered and man, I'm never touching the damn thing again.
