Hey everyone, I was wondering how I could submit tutorials to this site. My tutorial is one the subject of setting up and AK2i. I know there is already a tutorial on this subject but that one has alot of unnecessary confusing stuff like the adding of moon shell that is not required in setting up your AK2i. Here is my tutorial in case you wanted to see if I was missing any info: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone, this is a guide to setup your AK2i. This is my first tutorial so let me know if I have any false information! First you will need to decide what firmware you will be using. There are two firmwares to choose from. The official firmware and the unofficial firmware which is supposedly better then the official firmware. I recommend that you download both and see which one works for you. Both of them can be downloaded here:http://www.acekard.com/download.php Once you have downloaded your firmware of choice you will need to format your MicroSD card. Before you do that you will have to backup you MicroSD to make sure nothing important is lost when you format you MircoSD. Formatting can be done to ways. The easier and less effective way of the harder and fully effective way. The easier way is done like this: -Go to "My Computer" -Right-Click on the icon that is your MicroSD and click"Format" The harder and more reliable way can be completed like this: -Download the "Panasonic Card Formatter" here:http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html -Run the program and format your MircoSD inside the program. Once your MicroSD is formatted go to the .ZIP folder you downloaded before. Extract or unzip the folder to a new folder elsewhere on you PC. Once you have done that you will need to go to the folder where you extracted the files to. Now there should be a file named ak_menu.nds or something like that and a folder named _aio*. Once you have found them minimize that window. In a new window open your MircoSD, and put the _aio* folder and the ak_menu.nds file in the root ,or base, of you MicroSD card. Your AK2i is now ready to run! I suggest you make separate folders to organize your movies, music and games. Enjoy! IF YOU HAVE A DSi RUNNING 1.4 FIRMWARE KEEP READING!!! Nintendo's latest DSi firmware, 1.4 , is anti-flashcart. To fix this problem on you AK2i you will need the following things: -A DS or a DSi that is running a firmware lower than 1.4 -This update file:AK21 Update Once you download extract the files to a folder elsewhere on your computer. Once you extracted the file you should see two files. One that has "DSi" in it and the other says "DSL". If you are using a DSL to update you AK2i then put the "DSL.nds" in your games foder on your MicroSD. Once you have done that put the AK2i in you DSL and play the ".NDS" file like you would any other game. If you are using a DSi to update you AK2i the do the same thing but do it with the "DSi.nds" file. Once you have run the update the AK2i should run on you DSi. PM me with any questions. *If you have any games from your old MircoSD before you formatted it now is the time you put the important files back on.
If you post a tutorial in the proper section (like in the Technical Help or Non Emulator Help sections) then it will be moved to the tutorial forum by a moderator (if it's quality, etc.) Not to diminish your contribution, but there is an Acekard 2i update tutorial in our tutorial section already. https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php?topic=21995.0
Yeah, I saw that, just wanted to make sure that I covered all necessary topics for running an AceKard.
To make a tutorial more appealing, you could add screenshots and formatting the text to make it easier to follow the different steps.
I got a proposal. Why can't the tutorials section be more like the reviews section, and have a section we it'll be free to post, but only some would make it to the proper section, I also see a few simerlar topics in that section (the wii update sections) as well as a few "obsolute" sections.... It would make things easier I suppose for you, the moderators, since some good tutorials don't get seen, plus it let's people add comments before it get's moved, they could be updated as people post suggestions, and when they feel it's complete, and who ever of the mod team approves it, it will then be moved to the correct section. I know there isn't much traffic in tutorials, but it's only about 4-5 topics less then review submissions, at least from what I seen.
The problem with that is the tutorials would either get lost in the proper section, or they would have to be stickied and we would end up with a dozen sticky topics in those sections (which is not wanted). The tutorial section can just provide a place where threads can be placed so they won't get lost and can be easily referenced by those providing help.
I meant as in same structier as the reviews section where once it get's approved, it get's locked and sent to the correct child board. It does sound like extra work making such a section, but it would mean people could post freely with topics (as some new user's might be wondering why they can't post tutorials) and only a small few could be considered "complete" and be moved to the correct section. So in other words...making it more like the review's section could mean easier to understand tutorials, and with enough "it works" or "it's perfect" could mean it's moved... I know the one I made about psp hacking can be hard to understand for some people, and some have figured it out surprisingly.
