How to make my downloads faster in romulation aside from becoming premium member?
Sorry if I post this in the wrong forum

I'm already using DAP (It's a download manager) but my speed in downloading is still 18 kb/s :(

Well, its easy, use a download manger like flashget or free download manager

Those don't necesarilly mean that the downloads will be faster.

It all depends on the traffic at the time you're downloading.
Like in the afternoon for me, I get around 180kb/s (my top speed - average).
Try downloading at different times and see what your speeds are.

Even if your download speeds do go higher, example, 500 kbps, using a download manager, It's just counting wrongly. The maximum for normal members is 250kbps.

I've gone over 250kbps several times. I was confused, but I did enjoy it.

Like Stanley said, it's counting errors in the program that displays your download speeds. Seph explained before, in simple detail, how the servers won't send more than 250K (something about filling a buffer and sending it to the user, then filling again, and sending, etc.)

Unless of course it was during the NA Server stress tests where Seph opened it to full speed for all users temporarily :)

Is there something like Megaupload's happy hour where any user can download in max speed for a period of time?

Megaupload has a happy hour? I need to figure out when that is and use it. Otherwise I just get speeds pretty much identical to Romulation most of the time. Also:

I must just have gotten lucky then, as it was definitely going over the 250kbps more then just with the visual.

Happy hour is 5-7PM GMT+8, convert the time yourself. Weekdays. You need to download the megaupload toolbar, and you get premium speeds for two hours.

It appears to be exactly one hour behind my time zone. Well, according to an online clock displaying the time.

Anyways, On topic, before Reider comes.

If you're able to purchase stuff online, and won't mind paying, You can buy premium. You get 10x the amount of points each day.

You get more points, faster speeds, and more downloads at once. Pretty solid way to get the ball rolling when it comes to downloads.

You can test premium speeds by going here:

Yes, it is well worth it actually.
For only $15 too, and I know that I'm giving back to the place that has helped me with so much.

I still didn't get over my download limit when I was premium, so nothing really changed. But it was constant and not so jittery as when downloading as a free user.

But remember, 15$ to some people may be like 1000. Like me, I can't buy that.

    Yeah...that too. >.>

So, for some, it may be impossible.
But like I said, I had less of a jitter in my download speeds which was very nice because my download manager was more accurate with the download speed. This came in handy when downloading GC games.

I would become premium, but it took me about 3 months to save $30, and that already was being saved for something else due to everything in real life I still need first. Fixing my broken stuff and fully enhancing my current electronics comes before anything on the internet (I do mean anything).

I love this place, but like Stanley said, money is pretty tight for people, especially at this point with the world economy being where it is.

    Ohhh..I know what you mean.

I am looking for a job currently so, I have nothing at all except for maybe some change lying around...
So, Premium isn't happening ANY time soon unfortunately...
