Well, i bought a smart bro and a globe tattoo, which is a usb dongle with a sim card inside it for wireless internet or on the go internet... its not wifi, its a portable internet using cellular signal to produce internet waves..i think so at least...

so anyway, its has 3 speeds. HSPDA, 3G and GPRS, from fastest to slowest... well, the problem is, how can i boost it to get 3G even to HSPDA speed? what gadget should i need? like an antenna or radar receiveing thingy?

i need this cause where i work, there is no landline to get cable internet/wired internet which is faster... so i need to just make the most of this device..

So, any suggestion on how to harness 3G signals? To make my download, surfing faster?

external antenna. But it depends if you're in a coverage area for the higher speeds. I have a mobile broadband modem as well, I've only ever got 3G or GPRS, and usually GPRS, even though my modem is capable of HSDPA/HSUPA its never had a strong enough signal to use them (or been in a coverage area). I've briefly had HSDPA at my grandmother's house, but it wasnt able to hold and fell back to 3G.

I also found that upgrading to a better modem helped. I initially had this:

but it was plauged by reception issues, at one point being unable to get a signal when my cellphone could using the same SIM card. It also would never hold onto a 3g signal falling back to GPRS within minutes, even in central london. After finding out that it would not take an external antenna, I had no choice but to get a different modem.

So I upgraded to an XU870, which has a flip-up antenna, and a jack for an external antenna.

If your USB devices are anything like ours, you'd benefit a lot from getting a decent modem like a merlin XU870.

its a pcmcia card right? well, i'm using a usb dongle.. for my netbook which has no pcmcia slot... i could use that for my laptop but pretty old and well, the graphics card of that suck when using youtube or looking at websites, but my netbook is better and i just plug it to a lcd monitor.

well, it there like a usb dongle antenna which picks up 3g signal and kinda boost my mobile broadband? or do you know about any site that teaches you to build a reception tower or somesort? cause if they can build satellite disk for tv cable, maybe i could get one for 3g signals?

I dont know if you can use external antennas with USB dongles, you need a jack to plug it in to.

The XU870 is an expresscard, however you can get adaptors such as these:
