I leave mine on almost all the time, unless I won't be home at all for an extended period

Wait... Computers have an off button now?

Seriously though, I just leave mine on 24/7, it's not like it's pulling much power

Some PC's can pull quite a bit of power...

Can, but it's highly unlikely, considering I use a 630W PSU and pull closer to 50W on idle =]

PSU wattage has no bearing on how much electricity the computer uses. the wattage is the MAXIMUM that the PSU is capable of SUPPLYING to the rest of the machine.

My computer pulls about 350W under light use.

This is a bit off topic but... how do you know how much electricity your pc is using ? do you use a device or software to check consumption ?

If Australia didn't have these internet plans with caps I'd leave mine on all night...

Except the humming of my laptop annoys me greatly :(

You waste more energy turning it on and off then letting it into stand by and turned on. Unless your PSU has less than 60% power efficiency.

Mostly the whole day. If I go sleeping I turn it off.

I want to turn it in stand-by, but I do not know what it will do when finished...

The ability of a computer to stay on indefinitely is not so much whether it can but should you... Hardware has a limited life cycle. it could be several thousand hours who knows. but the OS can be an issue. most OSes have an issue of getting slower the longer you go without a restart. on top of that a computer being online as well leaves it open to whatever crap bad hackers decide to throw at it. The idea is that if you have windows (which is like 90 something % of the world) you are more likely to be targeted with malware. personally when torrenting for long periods I do it from Linux using Transmission to avoid dealing with the malware openings, (who bothers to attack Linux?)
