erm... when you download stuff... how much kbps do you guys get if you just used mozilla firefox without any download managers???

i think i get up to 9kbps and im already lucky with that...

    (usually its only 4kbps)

can anyone help me how to make this faster??

or a tutorial on a download manager would help... :D

    thank you.. :D

from this site, between 700KB/s and 900KB/s.

kryz if you're talking about download/upload speed when transferring files you need to use kBps, its confusing I know but kbps and kBps are not the same, in fact 8kbps is the same as 1kBps.

what kind of connection are you on? You can only download as fast as your line will let you. Using a download manager is'nt likely to speed it up.

I normally get around 30 kbp, on a good day, 50. Sometimes download managers or "accelerators" might boost it by 1 or so kbp, but they don't really do anything. There's not really any way for you to increase your download speed unless you get a better connection. Those "internet speeders" don't work at all.

    sorry Loonly

    its kBps

ermm.... so how come i read at some posts that they *pause* their downloads and resume it the next day?

how do you guys do this???

we have an internet cafe for a business and even when im alone and all the other computers are turned off, i still get crappy internet speeds..

thats why i cant even download psx isos because it takes me for forever just to get 10%

They use a download manager for that, such as Flashget or Getright but they won't increase your download speeds.

erm.... what if i started downloading with flashget and the power is turned off...

If you turned off your computer while a download is still downloading, and you turn it back on, the download will continue. It automatically pauses for you.

I'm currently catting around 180KB/s the most I've ever seen on my line is somewhere near 240KB/s, I'm supposed to get 2 "meg" cant remember if its Mb or MB, does either sound right to anyone given my download speeds

2mbit (Mb) connection, i.e line speeds, are measured in xbps where x is M or K usually. Actual transfer speeds are measured in xBps, again where x is usually K or M. 240KB/s sounds about right for a 2mbit connection.

i get 812kbs (which is wired because my isp advertised 7mbs) but the speed depends on the bandwave of the site and how many people are downloading (i thank)

kBps is different from kbps, as is mBps different from mbps. read loonys post.

Also where the server is in relation to you plays a big part.
