How does a company find out where a website is hosted?

For example lets say that my website used images with copyright on them. The owner of the copyright sends me an email saying that my website will be shut down if I do not comply to their demands.

How would that company go about figuring out where my website is hosted to arrest me or whatever?

    Just curious.

IP address, they would just ask your provider

IP address is correct. Each IP address is assigned to a company and from there on it's pretty easy to move forward.

they cant force your website to shut down, all they can legally do is force you to remove the copyrighted content.

So it's impossible to hide your I.P?
How would they go about finding out who your provider is?
May seem a bit out there but what if you are your own provider. Hell I don't even know if that's possible.

I would say "hiding" your IP would cause you even more trouble in the long run.

Enough legal threats and any provider will cave eventually.
