How do you compare graphics cards?

I suppose that there is no "in a nut shell" way to do it, but I always used to look at Core Clock and Memory Clock speed, but apparently Memory Bandwidth is just as important.

My ass is itching for a new card, despite the fact that I just got the old one fixed lol.

That being said I was looking at some fairly cheap cards such as the Radeon 5670 and the GeForce 440 GT.

So I don't know, how would you rate those against my current Radeon 4830? Not enough of an upgrade to be worth buying?

Are you talking about a radeon HD 5670 or a radeon 5670? they're different cards and one is about 10 years old

Sorry lol, yes they are all HD series - both my current 4830 and the 5670 I could buy.

I was using this website to compare: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=586&card2=623

But not exactly sure what to rate. When I compare the 4830 HD to a GT440 the ATI card has way more Memory Bandwidth but the GT has a higher Core clock and texture fill rate.

So I'm not sure how to rate them.

    personally I would say a 4830 to a 5670 probably isnt worth it. A 4830 to a 5850 or higher would be.

    Awesome, thanks :)

But that leads me to another question, why is Memory Clock of ATI cards so much higher in general?

The ATI has like 3800 vs the 1800 of a GT440
