How do PS files supposed to look like after extraction?

Normally, I downloaded the PS archive, extracted it, and ending up with 2 folders. "..." and the PS game folder with the .img, .ccd, and .sub files in it. They ended up with no problems.

One day, I downloaded another game, extracted it, and ending up with the "..." folder, .img, .ccd, and .sub files.

    Is this supposed to happen?
If yes, then why did it said there's an "error in a sector" and said something about image problems?
If no, then what can fix it? What caused it?

    Facts:
-Internet surfing didn't affect the files and didn't corrupt them. Even if it did, WinRAR would've told me.
-I have a really bad computer
-I use CD-R and the CD drive for burning
    -I use Imgburn
-Putting the files in a new folder DOESN'T fix it.
-I'm burning the game "Megaman Legends 2".
-I keep my first 4 problem-free downloaded games on my documents but I extract on my desktop.

What gave you the errors? WinRAR or your burning software? What software are you using to burn your CDs?

PSX games vary depending on what game it is. IMG, BIN, ISO, MDF. Those are image files. SUB contains subchannel data (sometimes this is Audio data from the CD). I believe files like ccd, cue, mds are datasheets for the disc, that tell your software were the tracks are layed out on the CD.

Whether they are in a Folder, or not in a folder, depends on how it was compressed, and make no difference on the actual files. If they are in a folder it just means that who ever made the archive had them in a folder when they made it. The files would still be exactly the same regardless.

The ".." is not a folder, it is just the symbol to go "up" one directory (folder) So if you were at C:\Program Files\Games\PSX\Final Fantasy 7\, then pressing the ".." would bring you to C:\Program Files\Games\PSX\

    So if you see:
    ..
    Game.img
    Game.ccd
    Game.sub

that just means that the files were added directly to the archive without a folder.

    If you see
    ..
    GAME

    and inside "GAME" is:
    Game.img
    Game.ccd
    Game.sub

That means the files were in a folder called GAME when they were added to the archive.

In other words, it means nothing at all as far as the files are concerned.

That's what I wanna know. I don't know what gave me errors. My burning software is Imgburn.

I find it strange how files added directly to the archives gave me errors when burning while files in the folders gave me no problems.

Is it possible to have no problems burning the game even though it's not in a folder?

I heard that I have to "keep the files close" to prevent the error. And I did that and still had the error.

    Basically, archives extracted like this:
    ...
    GAME
    gave me no errors.

    Archives like this:
    ...
    Game.img
    Game.ccd
    Game.sub
    gave me "errors in sectors".

What told you "Error in Sectors"? Imgburn, or what?

It's not the folders that are causing your problem. That's just a coincidence. "Keep the files close" really means keep the CCD, SUB, and IMG all in the same folder so your software knows where to find them.

Imgburn gave me the error. Told me to continue or not. If I did, then the log will repeatedly say the the problem might be fixed and something about the wrong image file.

My Imgburn don't go well with open-filed archives.

So I used imgburn to burn my game that has an archive that doesn't come in a folder. When 95% done, I got the error message something about a miscompare: something like this:

Miscompare at LBA: 198216, Offset: 578, File: ???
    Device: 0xBB
    Image File: 0xAB
    Total Errors in Sector: 24

(I forgot how it looks like)

When I continued even though there were miscompares there were OVER 9000!!! ...no seriously. it was around 15000.

Imgburn said the image was at the wrong file and was probably fixed.

Is there a way to fix it? Will it cause any errors in the game? If so, what?

What game is it that you are burning?

What type of CD are you using?

What speed are you burning at?

I merged these two topics since they are about the exact same thing. One topic is enough.

Also, the folder structure of the archive is NOT your problem.

I'm burning "Megaman Legends 2" and had a similar problems with "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure".

    I'm using CD-R.

    I burn at 1x speed.

I think this thread include the righ people. This is my first time at this. None of the tutorials address the basics... Can someone help me?
I have downloaded a psx rar file. I have extracted the content and I now have a "ccd", an "img", and a "sub" file. I would like to create a dvd from these 3 files that I can insert in my PS box and play the game.
Do I just burn the 3 files at the root of the disk?
    Thanks for the help!

Just use an Image Burner, and burn the .img file (making sure the .ccd and .sub etc. are in the same folder).
