I recently sent my wii to be fixed, since it stoped reading all my backups, only orignal games and original GC games were read. I told my uncle ask the store that you are sending them to repair the wii to switch the lens and the chip. They were saying it's not the lens, this was the first symptom that i should called my uncle againa nd told him make them give the wii to you, i did not, then they said it was the lens and the chip and now they informed him that the wii is not starting up that it migth be a card problem... I am starting to feel afraid the fuckers in an attempt to hack my wii and add a virtual chip as it's called homebrew channel or installing uload+neogamma + gecko OS as channels they migth have bricked the fucking piece of shit. I knew i should've gone external but an EHDD it's quite costly in my country since we dont have a law that regulates the prices of electronics, something that cost 50$ should be 200 bucks in my country but it's sold for 1.000 bucks. Anyway i have heard that there are ways to unbrick a wii, what are these ways, the wii is fully hacked, all CIOS patched with some with trucha, and also i had updated to 4.3 by accident. I aksed a lens switch since my wii is a first gen one, and as we all know they have large issues to read dual layer games, hence why i wanted the fucking lens switched, and wanted to buy from the streets morando and metroid other m.

My uncle got more detailed info, it were the lens, the problem is that the model of lens they were using was not all that compatible with my wii so they had to order a new set of lens oh and they wiped all my saves and wad installed channels and probably every pacthed CIOS i had, meaning i am gonna need letterbomb. What made me think they bricked it is that they said the wii did not start up they later rectified this by saying the games did not started up, i swear i am going to buy a 500 GB EHDD.
this is a different store, the other one, did not wipe my saves, nor did anything with the homebrew channel they simply cleaned the wii, installed a new chip and job done, this is a different store and that is more close to were my uncle works, and it seems the new lens came in today, but he forgot the fucking wii on the house so i gotta wait 24-48 hours to know if they will reinstall my saved data and my hacked stuff, since the only painfull games to beat are: RE:4 on pro mode, umbrella were i had S ranked most stages, baroque (nuff siad it's nintendo hard) monster hunter since i was HR 41, and of course disaster day of crisis (there is a particular set of stages were you drive a car, three of them have you try to outspeed a volcanic eruption and then to make things worse the next stage near the end has a bridge that starts having massive holes that you need to avoid and the third and last stage is you driving in the middle of a huricane while in the pursuit of the bad guys van/jeep armored car of those that banks and SWAT uses) those are really the only painfull, i have a rather large collection of wii games, including brawl, triology, MP3,etc. oh and ghostbusters, god is better than the NES version but it has it's issues.
It doesn't sound bricked. The update wiped your data most likely and you could have easily installed the Homebrew Channel to fix the problem. I don't think it's the lens to be honest. They probably don't know what the hell they're doing...
how come i have update twice the wii to 4.3 (i downgraded it once to 4.1 by accident via pimp my wii) and i always conserved the data, what this guys did was a massive wipeout, they erased everything i had in there i am sure they did it via formating the console as i had given to the console the name sigfried and it shows up as au (making it funny since au is the chemical symbol for gold if i am not mistaken) they even siwtched the lens but brawl wasnt able to run, and i know that are the lens since none of my wii backups could run on the console, only my original non dual layer games, fire emblem runs, and metroid prime 1 and 2 run, but triology, brawl that are bougth at a nintendo store do not, burned games such as other m do not run either, anyhow i can use letterbom to get homebrew channel back, all i am waiting is for them to give the call to my uncle they got the correct set of lens (they tested a few ones but they werent compatible brawl froze up as soon it was launched)
Weren't you the same person that "accidentally" updated their Wii to 4.3 using Pimp My Wii? Didn't learn from your mistake the first time, eh? I'm not even going to bother to ask why you need a new lens, or how anything else described in this thread occurred, because the answer is simple. You do not learn from past mistakes...
First gen wii has over 5-6 years with me, it's time to change the lens, and i should've done it years ago but now that the wii wont read anything
My wii was sent to the sotre that replaced the chips and cleaned the lens years ago, the guys replaced the lesn but the guy of the previous store scrapped[/b] the chip my wii had, and these people did not want to install a physical chip saying 'there are no compatible chips with 4.3' to make sure i did some research and the wii firmware does not matters for the physical chip but rather the model, and mine is of the first wii's launched to the market, i had to form a ruckuss in order to them to understand i wanted it physically chipped and the uload, neogamma and gecko channels removed,[/i] since i wanted to re hack my wii, just leaving this small update. Oh and they told me they had to unbrick the console since i three weather and news channels, i know very well that a brick is that you fuck so badly the system files you cant access the system menu and a semi brick is that your fuck the system files but you can repair it with much more ease,, i told them the channels were installed after i had run a few japanese and PAL games, really if they dont know about wii hacking why they bothered to hack it (aside the obvious shit of charging me more cash for the hacking) and they ahd the courage of telling me to go and buy an external reader of hard drive since they dint installed a physical chip on it only a virtual chip (this triggered the chain of events on the paragraph above). In conclusion if sent to a store my wii will have to give a paper with a set of very specific and detailed instructions of what i want to have modded and what already has been modded, i am really pissed, and cant buy EHDD since they are very expensive stuff unless some one like my uncle has it's company go an sent him to a trip to a foregin country i have little chance to get my hands on one, and i will end having one to avoid this shit from happening on the future.
