you need a bootloader. Windows XP should have installed one, what is your other OS?

win 7 ultimate, but what happens is that XP professional autoboots always, forcing me to erase the OS of the partition in order to acess, what i want is that after i get the VIT symbol on my laptop i get a screen that asks me which partition i want to use, it used to happen before i had to do the vista reisntall.

run msconfig and check the boot.ini tab. you might have to add a line for windows 7 to the boot menu section.

Ok i've ran the app mscofig and i am not sure what is the boot.ini tab, i have one that says arranque, translating it onto english would be start, but is that the boot tab? or it's a file?, sorry i am not an expert, i am an amateur at best.

boot.ini is a file, but theres a tab labelled 'boot' or 'boot.ini' which allows you to change settings without editing the file manually

Yeah i think the arranque tab is the boot tab you are refering too, it has windows 7 as the main OS, the thing i am suspecting is that XP switches to be the main OS, so all would need to do is to go to the config app, chose the 7 partition and it would boot post reset as the main one, or i would be allowed to well select which partition i want to boot.

if theres a line for each OS in there then it should give you a menu.

Just in case, what is the line i am suposed to add manually?

I am mostly doing this since i magnaged to find diablo I and II and Fallout I and II and i would like to play those game, but windows 7 has more problems running it so its not worth it playing them on 7.
