Due to many issues with my pc since it's upgrade to windows 7 I'm planning on formatting it and starting over...

But I really need my bookmarks, i have too many sites that i wish to keep (despite being a regular here XD)

I'm using firefox, can anyone tell me how I can pullout the book marks so I can throw those into a folder or something so they can be used else where?

just an idea, it worked for me.... just go to C/program files (or program files X86 if you run 64bit....) and copy the folder "Mozilla" to an external drive, then downgrade windows, then download the Firefox installer, then run it, for the registry entries, and then just copy the folder back over, it worked like a charm for me!

    That's a pretty good idea actually. :p

I don't think there's a way to export the bookmarks.

because, if you don't have the registry entries for FF, it won't run, but all the files are the same, but with more stuff, and as far as i know, there isn't, it's stored somewhere.....

Thing is I thought of that, but i want a clean sweep of my entire computer, and with that my browser toolbar thing popping up from the last issue I want not a single piece of the old firefox but the bookmarks just incase I pull that back again.

go to "bookmarks" then "organize bookmarks" then at the top, click " import and backup" and save the file....

then do the same after downgrading, except go to "restore" then "choose file" then load it.... :)

I just copied and pasted each webpage into a text file when I redid my computer. :p

    Hope it works.

When I save a bookmark it just comes up in a drop down...it's a small file as well.

I do hope all of them come back.

I used to do that...but i don't have the time to bother.

oh well....same thing i guess, just different file type. i checked it out, and both, backup, and export HTML will work exactly the same way. ;)

you can also back up the mozilla folders in c:\documents and settings\username\application data and c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data (or windows 7 equivalent paths, cant remember if they're the same or not) and restore them after a format. This method will also restore all your addons, saved passwords, cookies and open tabs.

Rocky, all you do is what the earlier poster said-backup and save onto like a memory stick, then import them back using the saved "file".

bookmarks/organize bookmarks/import and backup-click backup for backing up(LOL) and later click restore then choose the file which has the backup file that contains your bookmarks

The above is on xp/vista,but it may be the same for w7
