Err...you mean from the ROMs you get from your SD card? No it is impossible. You could always search YouTube for it.
You can get music from NDS files. I've looked into it, but it's a complicated process that's not worth the time and effort. Especially if the music files are in a single file.
From the forums: http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=17770.msg204565#msg204565 Related: http://www.ds-scene.net/?s=viewtopic&id=1358 Related: http://ezflash.sosuke.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15187 This isn't a simple process, and not all music is stored the exact same way in ROM's. Always try searching for a game's OST beforehand to save yourself what is going to be a bit of work. Be more civil too. Jonez001's suggestion was very legitimate and your comment was far out of line.
What is wrong? You can't extract it from the rom it self so meaby somebody made a OST! This is all game music!
Actually there is such thing as OST for NDS games. The easiest to look for is in Youtube. Knowing how to look, where to look, and what keyword to use in the search is the key to finding it all. You might need a video to mp3 convertor in some cases. There are lots of free convertors in circulation. I had played an NDS game entitled 'Time Hollow". I like the song so I looked it up in Google Search by typing 'Time Hollow NDS Opening song", I then found the exact same full version of the Openning Song. The song was sung by Masanori Akita, and the song title.......you guess it......"TIME HOLLOW". There are a lot of songs for games on the internet. I got a lot from searching it.....Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, etc. It took me a couple of tries when I was looking for the ending song of Metal Gear Solid Snake PSX, the song was 'The best is yet to come' sung by Rika Muranaka. You can't use the music file inside the rom even if you can extract or locate it in your rom, cause logically speaking....the extension of that music file is not readable as its not an .mp3/.mp4/.flv/.wav/.acc/.midi, etc. Furthermore its not a simple process to find and extract it, yet alone make it playable. So its not worth to even try doing that if there is a much simple method available. If you don't believe any of us members words.....go ahead and use Nitro Explorer.EXE, extract the files and try to run it in Media Player/Real Player/Quicktime, etc. You'll be wasting your time trying. That's why...Jonez001's suggestion is logical and legitimate. Sometimes members simply say ..."try google search'.... its logical....this days lots of things can be discovery by simply typing simple keyword in google search site. And its a common respond by members this days. Here's a secret if you still don't know the song title or singer for the song you hear in a rom: Look in the credit after completing the game. Its normally credited by the game developer near the end of the credit listing.
If you look it that way I fully agree but that word.... I found some torrent with NDS OST like eg for POKEMON but that was part of a collection!
I would never trust torrents. I'd rather go with files that need extraction or converting cause its usually much safer than torrents. Like you said, its easier to look using google search or youtube. But again I never trust torrents, but that's my personal opinion only. ^=^
It is possible to extract music from ROM's in a playable format. There are quite a few programs available to help you do this.
depending on what kind of game you're talking about you can easily get music files that were extracted from roms that are playable with winamp and a great plugin pack called chipamp. Chipamp can be had here: http://chipamp.org you can get pre-extracted NDS music packs here: http://hcs64.com/2sf/ you can find other systems music here: http://www.zophar.net/music.html
oh...you can do that? OK. Thanks for the info. But again like you said, it all depand on which game rom you are trying to extract, right? Meaning only some is possible. Again its new stuff cause before this I was never able to do that. Can I ask you guys a bit of a side track to all these....(Hope to get some enlightment to the below): There's 1 rom that bothers me for quite sometimes. I've been trying to try edit/translate a rom; Dragon Quest Vi: Maboroshi no Daichi NDS. I tried almost every freeware/trialware/shareware on the net. I've been trying to get in and possibly edit the files with these extensions: 1. .tex and .text.lz 2. .lz 3. .pack 4. .dat (not readable using TTDT.EXE) 5. .bin 6. .pam 7. .dssa & .dssa.lz 8. .mpt & .mptp Is there a program for the above? I'm using Windows by the way. I also know there is a 90% translated version of the same game but for Super Famicon made by noProgress. But various links said that the game tend to disrupt and saving often error. I was able to read it in HEXdecimal but I don't know how to edit the text in that mode. Thanks.
It's been about a year but I did unpack sound data from several roms myself. I'm not exactly sure which utilities I used but the one's I did try were VGMToolbox, SDATtool, VGMTrans and ndssndext. Get VGMToolbox here: http://www.mediafire.com/?k3388z3hsefzbyk get SDATtool here: http://www.mediafire.com/?uwewyu5v51v9x67 (The zip is called soundtools because it has another program with it) get VGMTrans here:http://www.4shared.com/file/76520093/5a299676/VGMTrans.html and ndssndext here:http://www.4shared.com/file/68276816/8092229e/ndssndext_v04.html A guy named FAST6191 over on gbatemp's forums has quite a bit of knowledge on the subject so if you want to know something it's best to ask him!
