How are Release ID's established?

    I'm curious how the Release ID's are established? I have downloaded several ROMs and depending on what Site I download them from, I seem to get different Release ID's and was curious as to how these numbers are assigned and why there is a Difference.

    Can anyone point me to a location to find this information?

    You mean the numbers befor the name of the roms like 4616 - Marvel Super Hero Squad (K)(iND)?? They are numbered based on when they were dumped so Marvel Super Hero Squad (K) is number 4616.... as for different numbers on other sites they should all be the same.... Maby your just seeing differen regons of the same game like U,E,J,etc....

    romsites define the release IDs themselves, there is no universal numbering system.

    If there was it would make it easy for user's to establish what means what.

    Not gonna happen though is it?

    nope, romsites have different criteria determining what gets listed.
