I went to FYE a few days ago, checked out the anime section, checked out the DVD's of Deathnote and Hellgirl.

It was $30 for a 4 episode DVD. That's ****ing crazy.

I thought the title was a joke...

Note that the money also goes to translators, the licensing company, the cruddy English voice actors, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

Still, $30 for an hour of a show is crazy, Thank god for piracy.

Conversely eroge (Japanese porno' games) are surprisingly cheap. In Japan the same game costs 60 EFFIN' DOLLARS but the English-licenced product is sold only for 30 USD.

    Oh irony.

Japan is confused and loves their porno, they will buy anything over there

Also, I had no idea people were still buying DVDs of things that aren't really obscure gems of coming-of-age-movies.

I went into FYE the other day as well and the cheapest anime was Afro Samurai for $15 for the 5 or 6 episode series.

Pretty cheap, but I still didn't buy it as I have them on DVD already. :p

    DVD-CHeaper than blue ray.

Shop around, many a time I seeen a $10 price differance between them...

But...lately I seen blue ray movies only $4 more than a 2 dvd set, so really...shop around, if you like you special features like me...look around to get best price.

If you're looking for cheap DVDs, don't look in the anime section.

    @Natewlie:
Unless you're in that part of LA where you can get bootlegs of everything EXCEPT (dammit) really obscure gems of coming-of-age movies.

@nat-agreed, anime section dvd's are normally expensive...unless it's jb hi-fi which can be cheap sometimes...

@messo-You can bootleg it all...but just download it, cheaper :p

I went to FYE and bought Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

I did not know that stores still sold Yuugiou cards.

Now I feel the urge to post a very smutty picture of Yuugi with another male character. Huh...

That's why I don't bother myself buyin' originals, you shoulda be thankful, DVDs are way very expensive here than there.
Pirated dvds are all same price, I can buy 'em for R$1.50 (U$1,00=R$2,00).
And the fact that original uses DVD9 than DVD5 is a fact that it's exepensive, also the owner's copyright.

Where exactly were you trying to buy these? (I don't know what FYE is...)

Apparently FYE stands for For Your Entertainment.

...Christ. Sylar, you're looking at pages like this, right? And you're not checking Amazon? That's just fucking wrong. Target even has a cheaper price for Vol 02!

Speaking of which, Target's English site no longer has Records of the Thousand Imperial Battles... Aww... Still, it was weird seeing them on the site in the first place.

In the Philippines, pirated DVDs cost about 50-100 pesos, I think ($1-2)
    Cheap, right?

I still have the bootleg games...I liked them...

UNTIL I LOST MY SAVE DATA ON POKEMON SAPPHIRE!

(Unlike my bootleg donkey kong on gameboy, THAT STILL WORKS and looks legit :) )
