Hey Want to know how to do some hacking on the PS1??? I got your answer

well guys one day I was playing the PSX emulator on the computer and I got to thinking..... hmmm I wonder if I can hack this in any way turns out I can.

I will explain here

1. First get the PSX emulator and your favorite rom

2. download the cheat engine 5.4 or 5.3 dont matter at www.cheatengine.org

3. Now run your ePSXe or whatever emulator your using

4. Now open the Cheatengine.exe file up then set it to run the .CT files then no to the tuturial

5. Run your game and get it to the game where your at or where ever

6. the Top Left Corner there is a colorful button press it now you are in the processes look for your emulators process (.exe) then click it press ok

7. ok the PS1 is an old system and was coded on 2 bytes of information so on the cheat engine set the value type to 2 byte then search for your address

8. Search for you address like the health or magic or whatever your want (some of the stuff wont work)

9. Put the value you in then press first scan now increase your health or lower it in so me way then put in the value then press Next Scan

10. Now you should be down to two address if not then its one of the many things that can not be changed

This isn't just applicable for PSOne emulation, almost all emulators have this function, it's just to darn difficult, you sorta have to know some basic knowledge of Hexidecimals, as the so-called "address" the guy is reffering to is a value on the ROM/ISO's programming that holds data like money, life etcetera. I learned about this stuff from Hex editing, the most basic form of ROM Hacking.

 

I remember editing my single player Diablo 2 files for fun through the hex, it brings back good memories.

 

For me it was a confusing, eye-straining, but rewarding memory ;D

 

does PS emulators eat your memory?

 

i used to do that, i remember ff7, i had just started and my character would hit like 99999 every hit, jsut at the start

happy days , no need to play the game, just liked the story ROFL

 

Yeah, you can cheat/hack on many other stuff, I used Cheatengine to hack my brother's Dragonfable once, hehe.

i dont even need those programs to hack things like dragonfable and runescape and stuff
this one time my mate dared me to try and hack romulation.net and im like "easy"
im sitting there for half an hour, and then CRACK "woohoo, i hacked romulation."
3 seconds later, my computer turned off

I wasn't trying to make anything complicated just saying that there's the way to cheat its easy for me I have no problems with it

would you like to elabourate on that? im sure seph and loony would love to hear all about your 'hack'.

and as far as cheating via hexi's, its an old technique, can be benificial yes but i found it makes the games boring, and often crash.
