Well, I downloaded the nintendo ds emulator, desmume and ideaS.. to play Super mario 64 on it. Everything was soooo laggy. I couldnt fix the settings to it, and this was lagging with a laptop with 2 gb of ram and intel graphics.

Then, I even tested it on a laptop with 192 mb of ram and it still lagged the same as the 2gb of ram with Ati graphics.
How can I run nintendo ds games at a normal fps rate? I was getting 25 fps/s with choppy sound.
Is there like a trial and error process I have to go threw?

in most cases you can't; DS emulators are still very inefficient. No$GBA is the best, however it is still far from perfect. The best way to play DS roms is with a real DS and a flashcart such as the CycloDS Evolution. Games with little or no 3D content usually work pretty well, but 3D games are still poor.

Yes no$gba is quite good playing Super Mario 64. 3D generally works with no$gba. If you find the quality is a bit lacking, change the 3D rendering option to OpenGL, what DS games generally use for 3D.

You told us the memory and video details on the two systems, and the lack of speed change is mostly because the emulator is relying heavily on your processor. Anyways, loony is right, you can't expect a current DS emulator to run flawlessly yet. iDeaS and Desmume are outdated, get the latest version of no$gba for increased speed an compatibility.

Also, out of curiosity, you first say that your laptop has intel graphics, then you say it has ATI graphics? It doesn't really matter, I'm just a little confused.

iDeaS isn't outdated, it's still prefered by a lot of people for it's compatibility, it's DeSmuME that is outdated, it was good for earlier years in DS emulation.

Yes it is confusing, but the way I read it was with an extra comma, i.e the laptop with 2gb ram has intel graphics, the laptop with 192MB has ati graphics.

I remember when iDeaS were leg-to-leg in the emulation race, and then the French guy making DeSmuMe stopped because of legal reasons, and made it open source, at which point a crapload of spin-offs were created that never went anywhere. Anyways, I only called iDeaS outdated because no$gba passed iDeaS in general preferences ages ago, I haven't heard of any real progress on it as of late.

Only good sound compatibility is very good in iDeaS.
