another technology related inquiry, both my work usb (8gb) and my micro sd (4gb) have become somewhat smaller. The micro sd has decreased to 3.78 gb in size. The other to 7.67 gb in size. First of all before everyone tells me to format them. I have tried that (right click on usb from my computer and click format) i might be doing it wrong or something but whenever i do it it gives me
"windows cannot format this drive" and all this and that about how i have to close all my windows with stuff from the usb in them. So my question is, firstly what am i doing wrong. Secondly what is the right way to do it and if that doesn't work then what to do. Help would be nice =D

    your drive size didnt decrease.
that is the exact size of the drive.
they only round off the size to the nearest value.

have you try to format in safe mode?

    restart your PC first,

just before the splash screen appears, press F8.

(splash screen is the xp loading screen).

if you think thats bad, drives sold as 1TB only hold 931GB.

alright sorry about the delayed response, we live in different timezones so that accounts for that =S. So i entered safe mode and formatting worked fine, no change in the size of the usb but at least now i know how to format =D. Case closed
