Help with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time; patching.

I downloaded DSATM 4.3.4(I think thats the number) and I made a text file with the code thats on the comments page of the download, (If I need a different code please tell me) but when I hit autopatch, the file thats created isn't a NDS file.
Can someone tell me what to do and if there are different ways to patch a game..
I've tried going to gbatemp.com but I have no clue what to do with those files...

If you do help me please try giving me a good explanation, not something like:
"I cen heulp u cuese i kneuw haw"

I'm using R4-Ds, and I downloaded the newest file off r4ds.com
"R4 v1.18 kernel"
I also tried doing it like how the guy did it in the Stickied topic, but when I start playing it just won't work..
Maybe I'm doing something I don't know :'(

 

Did you load the .nds file with DSATM?

 

Yeah I did, I did everything that page told me to do.
I've tried downloading both EU, and the US version.
(to try both files, But It just wont work)
Do I need any other programs with this?
Because if I do, I probably didn't download them..

 

All you have to do, is load the ROM with DSATM using the option, and then load a clean .txt file with only the code, nothing else. And then patch with the option.

 

Yup did that, but the file comes out as just "bestand" aka "file" in english, not as NDS.
OH can you put spaces between the numbers in the file?

They should be exactly under each other.

I have no idea why the file doesn't come out as .nds, I've done everything what that guide told me to do.
Are you sure I don't need an extra program?

I'ma go ahead and delete all the files, re-download them and try it again.

Does it matter how the text file is called?

I re-did everything, but the file just doesn't want to come out as an .nds ):
