I recently changed my original psp slim firmware to 3.80 M33-5 cfw and I know there is a better version out there but I'm not exactly sure what to download and where to put things so I can upgrade it.

I wasn't sure if I was looking in the right direction:

I'm now trying to cfw my friends fat psp, but his firmware is 5.01 but the way I changed my psp was that it upgraded (or downgraded in this case) it to 3.80 cfw and then i upgraded it normaly but Im just not sure if its safe to downgrade the 5.01 official Firmware to 3.80 CFW?

p.s., I'm doing it the pandora battery and Despertar del Cementerio method as well. So is it still safe?

Two weeks ago I upgraded my brother's PSP Slim (2000 model) from OFW 5.00 to CFW 5.00 M33 in one step using PSPGrader v008 (Google it).

I would recommend you do it that way, faster and easier, and works with PSP 1000 (Fat) and 2000 (Slim).

As far as I know, nothing works for the PSP 3000.

But I was replying to cjfc.vp who said he was using a Fat PSP, so that's a 1000, and it works fine.

I'm not really wanting to try another method and it's process because when I custom firmwared my slim psp using the Pandora battery and magic memory stick way, it worked brilliantly but that was in the case of my psp being 2.80 Official going to a 3.80 Custom fw. But with my friends psp fat, he's got 5.00 official fw and it should downgrade to 3.80 custom fw but i wasn't sure if its safe to do so just from hearing about all the bad things that happen while downgrading.

PSPGrader v008 is just a program that creates magic memory sticks, just makes the stick install 5.00 M33. Not really a different method, just a quicker method.

Thanks for the alternate methods, but I'm more interested in knowing whether or not downgrading in my situation would be safe?

It should be, I mentioned earlier that I just did my brother's slim from OFW 5.00 to CFW 5.00

Ladies and gents, a friend of mine was getting rid of his psp fat 1000 and i bought it from him but would love to play snes roms on it, the software version is 3.111 or something similar to that, i had downloaded the emulater and had some roms on my pc and transferred them to the "games" folder on the psp's memory card but when i try to run it it comes up corrupt file, now bare in mind that i am really useless at this type of thing and am aware that i will need a software upgrade or downgrade but haven't the foggiest idea how to do it, i just have all the original battery packs etc, can any of you guys mail me with some instructions it would be really appreciated i have a snes hooked up the the tv in the spare room and the emulator running on the pc but would much prefer to be able to play them on the psp, Thanks
