after giving it a considerable tough im trying to get started on research to get my laptop the best specs, if i can afford a P ill use that for gaming and my laptop for editing videos and music and running some emus, what are the best specs considering:

    i have a core 2 duo of 2.2GHZ
i have 2 GB of ram.
    a HDD of 160 GB-
REal tek audio card and intel chipset family, im not sure of the brands of all the components, but what is the best idea to do here, obviously i want a bigger HD and more ram, but what else can i add aside a better graphic card

video editing is best done on a dedicated PC, it requires a lot of processor power and fast hard disks.

my uncle can do his job on a macbook, sure its an specialized computer and OS, but im aiming something of a lower level, mainly be able to record, cut and switch the format of the vid, not making whole programs of 60 minutes

If he's a professional I doubt he renders on the macbook, he would offload that to a dedicated render station or render farm. It's that part of the process that needs the power.
