So my father gave me a wii that has homebrew channel and an External Drive (500GB) for all the games, let's call this drive A. My friend (who's wii has homebrew as well) helped me a bit, by telling me how to download the games ( just that, he told me to figure out the rest because he said it's a bit complicated and he doesn't feel like explaining) so I have a winrar archive of "[WII] Naruto Shippuuden Clash of ninja revolution 3" which is about.... 3.29GBs?My friend did the downloading and put it on my external hard drive (let's call this drive B) which I have on my computer for all my online games (I use a very old computer, with it's internal harddrive being 4GB, we upgraded it though execpt the internal and just got an external hardrive to store data)
My question is, how would I get games on the wii? It has homebrew and configurable USB loader (I think that's what it's called) channel thing. I wanna get new games on it, and I wouldn't care if I delete the games on the current drive (it came with some pree lame games) and I remember my dad trying to hook it up to my computer and when I had it up and was gonna put a game in it, it said something like it needed to be formatted before use. I don't want to delete the important files like that on it though, I don't care bout the games on it though so I wouldn't care if the games are gone.I just care about the important files that MAKE it run. My friend also sent me an Email with a download link to "WBFS Manager" but didn't really explain well what does it do. All I could make out from it that it converts a game onto the wii, but didn't tell me how.

So How would I get games onto the wii without destroying any important data on it? Please put it in the most simple and I mean EXTREMELY simple way you can, without special terms (never been good at acronyms and terms, it took me til I was 12 to learn that NASA stands for national eronatuics and space administration XD) So please help me out and make sure even a 14 year old ocould understand it (I'm 14 :D) So please help, I don't want to make my wii just rot in my living room, I want to play new games on it.

The disk is formatted in a format that the wii can read but a PC cannot. I believe you need a special program to transfer games to the disk.

For an example of how to piss me off. Ignore the instructions. This is a different scenario, but at least read how the original poster failed to read and comprehend everything I told him to do.

Use WBFS Mananger. DO NOT FORMAT using Windows. Windows does not detect Wii-formatted volumes and will ask to format.

There's really nothing to WBFS Mananger. Just load up the program, and select the volume that has the games on it. DO NOT CLICK FORMAT. Transfer the games using the menu.

    That's a long thread 0.0

No need to format the HDD unless you want to.

That may help you out too.

Clear out any games you don't want. You can format if and only if there is not a single game you want that is on there.

The file you downloaded is a .RAR.
You need to extract that to get the ISO needed for WBFS Manager. It will not transfer in its current state.

Also, for running USBLoader (I use USBLoader GX), the external HDD that has the Wii-formatted partition needs to be in USB slot 1. If I recall, it's the one that is on its right hand side. If not, then just switch it.

There's a certain IOS that you need to have installed. Refer to ace's thread to see if he has it there. I forget which ones that you need to have installed.

You should have the program (USBLoader) on a SD card.

You mean Herme's cIOS222? That one is necessary to play games via USB.

What's an IOS? I think I get the geist of it though. I've already played a game on it though (my dad set it up). There's a few games on it I'll probably keep, so like you said "The file you downloaded is a .RAR.

I just gotta get the ISO and then transfer it with WBFS? :D already excited to play some games~~~~~

IOS is the wii operating system.

RAR files are similar to zip files, you need a program called winrar to get the the iso file out of the rar. Download it from www.rarlab.com

oh i already have that, I'll extract it tomorrow. So loony, did I get it right?

You just extract the ISO from the RAR archive, then use a WBFS manager to transfer it to the HDD. Not too hard. Even easier is burning the game to a DVD-R and transferring it to your HDD via the Wii. I get better results that way many times.

Ah thanks :D If I get any problems, can I PM you? Also, what happens fif your burn it? does it run faster perhaps?

Yeah, you can PM me, if you were talking to me.
If you want to burn it, you can delete it off of your computer if it was a good burn and it'll be backed up onto a disc. Also, it is faster via USB than disc.

Ok So it worked (well if you count the game being in the wii but when I started the game the screen started spinning like a slot machine, that was just that game though, gonna download a new one) I was just wondering, where could I download some good WORKING Wii Isos? I got V.56

None of the ISOs are "broken." You're just not doing it right.

Some games need to be patched either using the 002 fix, or instructed to use a different cIOS altogether. At least, these were the issues when running them from a disc.

And wait, are you starting the game using USBLoader or from a disc?

    USBloader and what's 002?

002 issues are when your Wii isn't up to date and the game requires a newer IOS to run. I updated my Wii when I couldn't play Sonic 4 Chapter 1. It worked after I updated it with Pimp My Wii.

link to it? Also, the latest game that works on it is probably... SSB Brawl or Mario/sonic Olympic Games. Is it easy to update?

It's in my thread that I posted if you look at it. And it's really easy to update. Just watch what you install.
