Re: Nvidia 9800GT VS Asus EAH5450- What Is The Better Gaming Card?

You can't splash out the extra money for an HD5770 (or better) or a GTX400-series? Because these cards you're asking about are absolute shit compared to modern tech. Black Ops in particular would only run on low.

My recommendation would be dropping your power supply to 500-550W (as long as it's an 80 plus) and using the money you save by doing that to buy a better graphics card. I run three drives, a quad core CPU and an HD5750 and I only have a 600W power supply, much of which I don't even need. I could run my rig on a decent 500W. Most games now are GPU-bottlenecked, so you want the best card you can afford.

But if you have to choose between those two cards in particular, the 9800GT is the better card. It's still fucking terrible. Neither of those have been "gaming cards" for at least two years.

In all honesty a DVD drive isn't a huge deal.

Re: Nvidia 9800GT VS Asus EAH5450- What Is The Better Gaming Card?

Although I may help, I'm not doing it all for you. This is your build. Find the wattage on each of the components (I think the 760 is 95W), add it up, give yourself about 150-200W headroom in case you get a better graphics card in future. Work from there. It's preferable to get a well-branded PSU, since if you get a shitty one it could kill your PC.

Gigabyte, ASUS and Sapphire are all good brands when it comes to a video card. Although the underlying chipset is the same, you'll get better support going with a well-recognised brand. Get the absolute best card you can afford. A 5750 will handle most things sufficiently except for Black Ops, but since I think that it's an atrocious game I can't tell you about what the performance would be like. You'd probably have to go on mid settings.

Look, to be honest? I'm not sure you should be building this by yourself without someone you know in real life who has a bit more experience. You seem rather unprepared when it comes to understanding how to compare components through reviews and benchmarking tests. Some of the other build threads we've had here could provide an example of the ideal way to do things - you post a theoretical build, get feedback, then adjust the build based on what you know and repost. I'll make a thread to explain the process of building a PC soon.

So This Is Better And Cheaper? And would it be better for me seems i would save a bit:

    Intel Core i5 650 Processor LGA1156 3.2GHz 4MB Cache CPU

    Internet Price: $178.00

    AMD Phenom II AM3 955 Black Edition (3.2Ghz) 64-Bit Quad-Core CPU

    Internet Price: $105.00

:If it matters the OS i will be putting on this pc will either be
    XPSP3 32 Bit
    Or
    Win7 32Bit

yes, either the 955 or the 965 are better than the i5, and you'll need a different motherboard as well, you'll need an AM3 board. Which is also likely to be cheaper.

That's what everybody says. It's not necessarily correct. Intel currently have the edge on AMD for the first time since the early 90s, so in fact AMD have been better for nearly 20 years. As it currently stands, the intel i7s are better than AMD's phenom IIs, however the i7 costs more than you're willing to spend on your entire computer. the Phenom II is better than the i5.

AMD have always been significantly cheaper than intel.

Constructing a new rig. The new i5 series utterly destroys the Phenom II judging by benchmarking and expert reviews. The 760 does outperform the 965 but only barely, so it's true that there's more performance in the AMD gear per dollar.

If you want a PC to game on build a PC wit parts such as AMD Phenom 2
ASUS motherboard and an Nvidia Geforce Videocard

That way you can play every game just fine.

    This system have I

ASUS M4A78L-Micro Motherboard Socket AM2+ With fitting a AM3 CPU
AMD Athlon X2 255 CPU (3.1 GHZ Dual Core) socket AM3
    Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT 512 MB DDR2
    160 GB HDD SATA
    250GB HDD SATA
    DVD burner SATA

With this system I can play Dead Space 2 ,Gothic 4 , Prototype Mass Effect 1 and 2.
All those games I can run at medium game settings or high game settings

But that is just my opinion for gaming I only want AMD ASUS and Nvidia

ATi drivers are historically a lot less stable and reliable than nvidia. However, ATI are much cheaper than nvidia, and nvidia are also having major problems with their current cards, so at the moment ATi is the safer bet.
