Hi I have a windows xp pro sp1, and it has Intel Celeron CPU, E3300 @ 2.50 GHz and 1.96GB of RAM.
When I start up WIndows xp (the black screen with the logo and the loading bar) it freezes, and this sometimes dosen´t happen when I restore the system to an older state. I have already checked the computer for viruses so it's not that...
I was thinking of removing dust from the components but that woudn't work.
Do you guys know what to do?

random guesses aren't going to help. I highly doubt it's overheating as it occurs within a couple of minutes of being turned on.

My laptop did that. Now it's crashed and gets stuck in the infinite restarting of death every time it's turned on.

version3 Is actually KappaMikey in the internet

This happened to me today, and this is what I did.

    1. Turn EVERYTHING off. The monitor, CPU, everything. Make sure you unplug them.
    2. Open the casing of your CPU (Make sure you touch something metallic for 10 seconds with both hands so that any static electricity build up wouldn't fry your CPU's circuits).
    3. Remove your RAM cards and the connections of your hard disks and DVD drive. After that, proceed to clean the interior to remove any dust build-up (dust tends to slow down and overheat your PC if it builds up), You should use a small dust brush and a can of compressed air, but using a clean rag and just blowing on it until the dust comes off works too, though it might aggravate some allergies that you might have.
    4. Put everything back in their places and turn on your PC. That should make it run again.

I take no responsibilities on damages you might do on your system, what I said above is what I do when my system crashes and freezes. Do at your own risk.

laptops are an entirely different animal. unless he states it is a laptop then I assume it isn't. Besides, that sounds more like a corrupt windows install or a bad driver than overheating.

I formated the computer 3 times and it's not a laptop. I installed all the drivers. Some people said that I could remove the dust to fix it but that would'nt explain that it would work once after the system restore and then freeze again.

I would say check your ram and cables are seated correctly, and run a disk check because there may be problems with the disk. It doesn't sound like overheating to me at all.

I'm going to try that soon. Do you know a video that could teach me how to clean my computer because I only found bad ones.

just use a vacuum cleaner on lowest setting and keep the main part of the vacuum cleaner as far away from the PC tower as possible (stretch the hose).
