Hey guys. Ok heres the story. At first when i hovered the mouse over my D drive it was giving me inaccurate readings it would say things like that i have 80 gig left when i have 100. So i right clicked and went to properties and it would say i have 100 gig as apposed to 80 (which i thought). But then randomly i went to see how much space i have left and it said 37 gig on the properties. I have not downloaded any programs which could take up that much space. So can someone please help me recover the lost space or help me find the root of the problem. cheers
run chkdisk, also if its using fat32 convert it to ntfs. Fat32 has a habit of losing space, especially if you dont shut the computer down properly.
I have ntfs i converted it a while back. I ran CHKDSK and it said no errors have been found and i have 20 gigs of space left. Wow this is weired. O and I'm virus free i just ran a scan with Spysweeper.
Also make sure system restore is disabled on that drive (right click 'my computer', choose 'properties' and its on one of the tabs)
ok that was really, really random ive just started disk Disk Defragmenter and there must have been some really misplaced files because just in the first 5 minutes of de-fragmenting my 37 gigs of space has shot up to 89.1 of free space. Ok the problem seems to be solved so feel free to delete this thread. Thanks guys for offering your support
