by any chance do any of you know the safest way to uograde my wii to 4.2? because I want to play montser hunter tri, but when I load it through neogamma and play the game it freezes and locks up when I start a actual game.

I was wondering if any of you know a way to make it work on the current 4.1 firmware or maybe to update my wii without bricking since monster hunter tri wont load unless I update to 4.2 wii firmware. Also i did some research and it turns out that the japanese title did the same with legit copies, but I have the US copy of the game and i'm thinking it might be different? anyway heres the link to the japanese guide on how to get monster hunter tri to work on a modded wii, but this is for the japanese games.. so maybe if any of you know a safe way t update my wii to system menu 4.2 or to get this game running on neogamma( legit copy) without uodating I would appreciate it

WARNING! THIS GUIDE/FAQ IS MEANT FOR THE USE OF THOSE WITH LEGIT COPIES OF MONSTER HUNTER 3 ONLY! ALSO: IN CASE YOUR WII FREEZES, JUST HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON UNTIL THE LIGHT IS RED! NOT ORANGE! NONE OF WHAT IS BELOW SHOULD BRICK YOUR WII UNLESS YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THE STEPS EXACTLY AS SHOWN!

Hoping that all of you understood what was mentioned above, let us begin:

Q: My game freezes when I want to start the game, but a loud buzzing sound comes up! Whats wrong!?

A: Well this is only caused by 2 things actually and those are the cIOS you are using along with the App. The cIOS required by Monster Hunter 3 is 55. But the original cIOS 55 isn't compatible with newer titles, so you will need the cIOS55BugFix WAD. You will also need SoftChip R99 later to run the game WITH cios55BugFix because only those experiencing the glitch MUST have the Wad Manager in the first place, there is no need to create steps, or explain how to install the WAD.

Q: My game freezes during the character customization whenever I want to change my name and there are no cIOS that fix this! HELP!?

A: This seems to be the biggest problem with people playing Monster Hunter 3 that DONT have Japanese Wiis.... Due to the font and structure differences of the USA/EU/AU Wii virtual keyboard, and Japanese MH3 virtual keyboard, the Wii freezes....
And no, it doesn't unfreeze trust me. To fix this, you must download the Any Region Changer (copy the folder inside to your apps folder AS SHOWN! DONT CHANGE ANYHING!), you should also follow this video, but replace Europe with JapanAny Region Changer Guide (FOLLOW SAME STEPS BUT USE JAPAN INSTEAD OF EUROPE!)

After you have followed the video and your Wii is looking 100% Japanese (Start Screen, Menu, Even icons), select the SoftChip R99 channel you installed before changing your region and when it loads you will be greeted with a few options you can select to Enable and Disable, follow this!
    Game's Language: Japanese
    Patch Country Strings: Disabled
    Autoboot: Disabled
    Silent: Disabled
    Logging: Disabled
    Remove 002 Protection: Enabled
    Fake IOS Version: Disabled:
    Load Requested IOS: Enabled
    Then Press A

Once you start Monster Hunter 3, create your character and name, as well as any other characters you may be using because after this step, its back to the freezes everytime you want to make one! Once you make your character(s) head straight to your bed at home and save the game. Then press the HOME button and go back to the Any Region Changer doing exactly what you did before, but using USA instead of Japan.

Q: Why is the opening video and cutscene so laggy? Or the sound is off?
A: Unknown, but I did notice improvements when I was in Japanese Wii mode

    Yo!

I only have played it through Uloader
but you need Hermes cIOS222/223 installed with IOS38 merged with 37.

    It'll work perfectly then. :)

Also, this is how my Wii is setup now so I can play GC and Wii games.

Go and reinstall rev19 using IOS249 when it first asks you for the IOS, and then IOS37 on the second time. It worked for me running 4.1.

You do not need 4.2, just need to install rev19 correctly.

It's funny that you ask, because I JUST got mine working not even 3 minutes ago, and I spent ALL DAY trying to find the solution out of 1000 nonworking ones.

I broke down and had to downgrade...

But now I can play all the games including GC.

I think it was a better solution than having to redo my entire Wii...@_@ It has it'd benefits. ;)

I spent too much damn time with Priiloader, not getting that shit to work, as well as StartPatch, and spent hours just getting Darkcorps 1.0 to work, which sorta does...Since Priiloader won't recognize my damn hacks.ini file, I still have to rip UPDATE folders out of the ISOs... :-\

However, I found that new way to do it, and bam, worked like a charm.
Out of all of that mess though, I did manage to get Bootmii as Boot2, and a NAND backup with the keys.bin file, something I should have done a LONG time ago.

To me, all of this stuff comes naturally.

More of the Wii than anything else.

It only took me maybe 20 minutes to figure out what I needed to do and actually do the steps to get it to work properly.

If you need help with anything, just PM me. Like with Priiloader or anything at all really. :)

dragneon was using a retail disc and Wiiflow doesn't support DVD from what I understand.

I never used it, but I've read a few things that said it didn't.

Plus I never have used it because it wouldn't load for me. :\

    I like Uloader best anyways.

I dont, maybe it doesnt do that because you dont have cscorps installed. you should install it.I dont like Uloader verymuch... We should be arch enimies or something...never mind I dont feel like it...

    DarkCorp now.

I could have used DarkCorp, but after reading about it, I just decided not to mess with it.

I just didn't feel like redoing my entire Wii just to play from disc when USB Loading is my favored way to play.

Monster Hunter Tri wasn't that big of a challenge to get working. I've had bigger troubles before. :)
