Help me...for NDS problem

I bought a new R4 chips to play roms of nds, at first i tried the games downloaded from the shop and they are ok to play. but when i get other roms from other websites like the one here, it always appears " unable to read data, pls turn off and reinsert the card" , with countless efforts it still cant be worked.... anyone got expert idea? pls help........

 

sorry for the offence.... by the way, how to see if the r4 is up to date? and if not, then how to update it? hope can solve..... :'(

 

I heard a rumor, I'm not sure if it's 100% true or not, but if you're using the R4 and you bought it in the last 6 months, chances are it's a fake. R4 stopped making them, notice no firmware upgrade for 8 months...
If you have a fake R4, the people making the fake ones patched the firmware for the original R4, so if you upgraded it from the official site... it won't work any more...

downloaded from just which shop? and sspark is right, a ton of fake r4's have surfaced, and yes upgrading them with official firmware has been rumored to brick your ds, thus ruining it, i have yet to hear of a confirmed case of it though. first off google image search real r4 vs fake r4 and several images should come up pointing out the differences. if you determine it to be a real r4 card proceed to r4ds.cn, download firmware 1.18, and copy to root of tf card, overwriting all data it asks you to. if you determine it to be a fake then i have no idea

 

I have bought three R4 for carts within the last month from realhotstuff.com (two for myself, and one as a gift). From what I can tell from all of the verification sites I've visited, all of them are fakes. The boxes didn't have any Japanese writing on them, and the carts themselves don't have those little scoops on the top where the SD Micro card fits in. Unless the original makers of the card have altered their cart style since the comparison pictures were posted, mine are counterfeits.

That being said, I used the official firmware ver. 1.18 from r4ds.cn, and they all worked fine. My DS wasn't bricked, and the firmware works flawlessly... Well, as flawlessly as it would on any other r4 cart.
